Job Overview: The Senior Communications Associate (Individual Contractor) role is pivotal in supporting the implementation of the office's communications and visibility activities. Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Senior Communications Associate include supporting the development and implementation of communications and visibility activities, producing and contributing to written, visual, and multimedia communication materials for various platforms, and assisting in social media content production. The contractor will be responsible for creating visual assets and short-form multimedia content, contributing to photography and video production, and documenting field activities and events through various communication materials. Additionally, the contractor must ensure that all communication products are developed in line with organizational communication standards and are sensitive to refugee protection considerations. The role requires effective collaboration with the communications team to meet emerging communication needs and deliver high-quality materials promptly.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree or higher in Communications, Journalism, Media Studies, Public Relations, International Relations, or a related field. They should have at least 2 years of relevant professional experience in communications, media production, public information, or related areas. Demonstrated experience in content development for digital platforms, including websites and social media, is essential. Candidates should also have experience in photography and video production, including shooting and basic editing, as well as experience covering events and translating these into engaging communication outputs. Previous experience working with international organizations, preferably within UN or humanitarian contexts, is considered an asset. Strong visual storytelling skills, proficiency in photo and video editing tools, and strong writing and editing skills for digital audiences are also required.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Communications, Journalism, Media Studies, Public Relations, International Relations, or a related field. This educational foundation is crucial for understanding the principles of effective communication and media production, which are essential for the role.

Additional Notes: The contract duration for this position is subject to operational needs, satisfactory service, and availability of funds, with no expectation of renewal or conversion beyond its expiry date. The working hours are set at 40 hours per week, which may include mandatory night shifts and the possibility of work on weekends and official holidays. Leave entitlements include annual leave at the rate of two and a half working days per month and sick leave at the rate of two working days for each month of service. Medical coverage is provided through Cigna Health Insurance, which is also available optionally for eligible dependents. The remuneration for this position is based on the International Civil Services Commission (ICSC) salary scale.
