Job Overview:
The Director and Chief security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security Officer (CSO) is a pivotal role within the World Bank Group, reporting directly to the Managing Director and WBG Chief Administrative Officer (MDCAO). This position is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive global security strategy that aligns with the WBG's mission. The CSO will lead the Corporate Security Unit, ensuring that the organization can operate safely and effectively in diverse and high-risk environments. The role requires a dynamic leader with a blend of technical expertise, operational experience, and exceptional people management skills. The CSO will also act as the principal advisor to the WBG’s Executive Leadership on all security-related matters, providing strategic insights and actionable recommendations to safeguard the organization’s assets and personnel. This position is crucial for maintaining the integrity and safety of the WBG’s global operations, particularly as the security landscape continues to evolve.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Global Security Strategy Architect: Develop and implement a visionary global security strategy and management system that aligns with the WBG’s mission while proactively addressing emerging global threats.
  • Executive Security Advisor: Serve as the primary advisor to the WBG’s Executive Leadership on security matters, providing strategic insights and recommendations to protect the organization’s assets and personnel.
  • Lead the Corporate Security Unit: Provide strategic leadership to the Corporate Security Unit, overseeing operations and ensuring high standards of service. Manage a significant budget for security-related expenditures across various threat levels.
  • International Security Collaboration: Establish and maintain partnerships with organizations such as the United Nations Department for Safety and Security (UNDSS) and other international financial institutions to enhance security measures and crisis management frameworks.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in security management, public policy, risk management, or a related field, along with over 15 years of global security leadership experience, particularly in high-threat environments. Proven experience in enterprise governance and crisis decision-making is essential, with a preference for candidates who have senior overseas security management experience. A background in security management within multilateral organizations or international corporations is advantageous. Candidates should demonstrate extensive experience in leading global security operations and possess recognized expertise in global risk management.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s degree in security management, public policy, risk management, or a related field is required. Advanced degrees or certifications in relevant areas may be beneficial and enhance a candidate's profile.

Experience:
The position requires over 15 years of experience in global security leadership, particularly in high-threat environments. Candidates should have a proven track record in enterprise governance and crisis decision-making, with a strong preference for those with senior overseas security management experience.

Languages:
The mandatory language for this position is English. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, although not explicitly required.
