Job Overview:
The Project Coordinator will provide technical and operational support to advance IOM Brazil’s partnerships portfolio with government counterparts at both federal and national levels. This role involves assisting in the development and enhancement of migrant-sensitive policies and programs, ensuring equitable access to basic services for migrants. The incumbent will also support the design and effective implementation of engagement activities with UN agencies and civil society organizations, which are strategic partners within IOM Brazil’s programmatic framework. The Project Coordinator will work closely with the Chief of Mission and the Programme Officer to manage the Programmes Unit, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities and donor requirements. This position requires strong coordination skills to facilitate IOM’s coherent operational engagement in major humanitarian responses in Brazil, including organizing and attending regular coordination meetings with operational partners, national authorities, UNCT members, and donors. Additionally, the Project Coordinator will monitor project progress, flag operational challenges, and propose timely solutions, while also documenting lessons learned and good practices to inform future programming.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Project Coordinator include providing technical and operational support to the Programme Officer in managing the Programmes Unit, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities and donor requirements. The incumbent will liaise with UN agencies, national authorities, and other coordination mechanisms on issues concerning migrant populations. Responsibilities also include organizing and attending coordination meetings, conducting functions of the inter-agency R4V national platform, monitoring the implementation of the RMRP in Brazil, and providing capacity-building actions for national authorities and civil society. The Project Coordinator will support project design, planning, and implementation, including drafting work plans, timelines, and budgets. They will facilitate coordination between internal units and external partners, compile programme updates for stakeholders, participate in donor meetings, and document lessons learned.

Required Qualifications:
The position requires a Master’s degree in International Relations, Law, Public Policy, or a related field from an accredited academic institution, along with five years of relevant professional experience. Candidates should have experience in programme conceptualization, development, monitoring, reporting, and evaluation, as well as familiarity with financial and business administration. A sound understanding of internal and international migration issues in Brazil and the region is essential, along with experience in liaising with governmental and diplomatic authorities. The ability to draft strategic documents and experience in inter-agency collaborative environments are also required.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in International Relations, Law, Public Policy, or a related field from an accredited institution. Accredited universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of migration governance and policy development.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have at least five years of relevant professional experience in areas such as programme development, monitoring, reporting, and evaluation. Experience in capacity-building activities and a proven understanding of migration issues are essential. Familiarity with financial and business administration, as well as experience in liaising with governmental and diplomatic authorities, is also required. Candidates should have a history of working in inter-agency environments and possess strong strategic planning and report writing skills.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Portuguese is mandatory for this position, as effective communication with diverse stakeholders is crucial. Knowledge of Spanish is considered advantageous, as it may facilitate communication with additional partners and stakeholders in the region.
