Job Overview:
The Reporting and Information Management (IM) Officer will play a crucial role in supporting the implementation of the Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) program in Pakistan. This position involves assisting in the planning and execution of DTM activities, which include Mobility Tracking, Multi-Sector Needs Assessments, Flow Monitoring, and Specialized Surveys. The officer will contribute to the analysis and dissemination of DTM data, producing analytical outputs such as situation reports, thematic briefs, and dashboards tailored to various stakeholders. The role also includes participating in data collection and analysis to support thematic analyses on mobility dynamics, protection risks, and humanitarian needs. The officer will assist in developing high-quality data visualizations and ensure the quality and consistency of incoming data from field teams. Additionally, the officer will facilitate training sessions for field staff and maintain compliance with IOM’s data protection policies, ensuring that gender-sensitive approaches are integrated throughout the DTM process.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Reporting and Information Management (IM) Officer will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including:
  • Assisting in the planning and execution of DTM activities across Pakistan, including Mobility Tracking and Multi-Sector Needs Assessments, Flow Monitoring, and Specialized Surveys.
  • Contributing to the analysis and dissemination of DTM data by producing analytical outputs such as situation reports, thematic briefs, and dashboards.
  • Participating in data collection and analysis to support thematic analyses on mobility dynamics, protection risks, and humanitarian needs.
  • Developing high-quality data visualizations, including interactive dashboards, maps, infographics, and charts.
  • Designing and revising DTM data collection tools, ensuring alignment with operational objectives.
  • Monitoring the quality of incoming data, providing feedback to field staff, and assisting with data cleaning and analysis.
  • Ensuring systematic back-up and organization of data repositories in line with IOM’s protocols.
  • Planning and delivering training sessions for DTM field staff and partners.
  • Integrating gender-sensitive approaches throughout the DTM process. 1
  • Maintaining effective liaison with government counterparts, UN agencies, NGOs, and other stakeholders. 1
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
The position requires a Master’s degree in Migration Studies, Demography, Political or Social Science, International Relations, or a related field from an accredited institution, along with two years of relevant professional experience. Alternatively, a University degree in the above fields with four years of relevant professional experience is acceptable. Candidates should have prior experience in coordinating field teams, preferably in research and data collection, and experience in data collection and verification in emergency contexts. Familiarity with survey design and implementation, as well as experience working with local government representatives, is advantageous. Experience with UN agencies or international organizations is also beneficial.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in Migration Studies, Demography, Political or Social Science, International Relations, or a related field from an accredited academic institution. Alternatively, a University degree in the aforementioned fields with four years of relevant professional experience is acceptable. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of migration and displacement issues.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have at least two years of relevant professional experience for those with a Master’s degree, or four years for those with a University degree. Experience in coordinating field teams, particularly in research and data collection, is crucial. Candidates should also have experience in data collection, analysis, and verification, especially in emergency contexts related to displacement and human mobility. Familiarity with survey design and implementation, as well as experience working with local government representatives, is highly desirable. Previous experience with UN agencies or international organizations will be considered an advantage.

Languages:
Fluency in English, both oral and written, is required for this position. Working knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, Russian, Spanish, or French) is advantageous. Additionally, proficiency in Urdu and other local languages of Pakistan (such as Sindhi) and/or Afghanistan (such as Pashto and Dari) is beneficial. Language proficiency will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.

Additional Notes:
The contract type for this position is Special Short Term Graded, with an initial duration of six months and the possibility of extension. The position is classified at the P-2 grade level and is a professional recruitment type. Candidates should be aware that internationally recruited professional staff are required to be mobile. The selection process may be used to staff similar positions in various duty stations, and recommended candidates will remain eligible for appointment in a similar position for a period of 24 months.
