Interns are expected to be between 20 and 36 years old and should have less than two years of relevant working experience. The programme is designed to provide interns with practical experience in the field of migration and to support their academic and professional development. Interns will work under the supervision of experienced professionals and will have the opportunity to contribute to various projects and initiatives within the organization. The internship is particularly suitable for those who are enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme or have graduated within the last 12 months. Interns will assist with daily operational activities, engage in project meetings, and contribute to the preparation of reports, thereby gaining valuable insights into the workings of an international organization.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will assist the Korea Visa Application Center (KVAC) team with a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: receiving and sorting visa applications delivered by post, managing passport and document logistics, and ordering visa application supporting documents according to relevant checklists. They will also assist with document completeness checks for specific visa types, including university degree (D-2), Korean language trainee (D-4), and exchange student (D-2-6) visa applications. Interns will communicate with beneficiaries following standard operating procedures, including contacting visa applicants for missing documents or for passport collection. Additionally, they will attend project meetings and training sessions with the project coordinator and other KVAC teams located in Paris, London, The Hague, and Ulaanbaatar. Interns will also be responsible for preparing daily, weekly, and monthly reports and undertaking any other tasks assigned by their supervisors.

Required Qualifications:

They should demonstrate a specific interest in migration issues and have a strong commitment to the values and mission of IOM. Interns must possess the ability to work effectively in a team environment and demonstrate strong communication skills. They should also exhibit a willingness to learn and adapt to new challenges, as well as a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Educational Background:
The ideal candidate should be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent) or have graduated within the last 12 months. A background in Humanities, Social Sciences, or a related field is preferred, as it aligns with the focus of IOM's work and the responsibilities of the internship.

Experience:
Interns should have less than two years of relevant working experience. This internship is particularly suited for students or recent graduates who are looking to gain practical experience in the field of migration and international relations. Previous experience in administrative roles or in international organizations is a plus but not mandatory.

Languages:
Fluent knowledge in spoken and written English is mandatory. Knowledge of German and/or Korean, or other official IOM languages (French and Spanish), is considered an advantage. Proficiency in the required languages will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.

Additional Notes:
The internship is subject to funding confirmation and the candidate's medical fitness for appointment. Interns may receive a small monthly stipend to help offset costs, depending on their experience and location. However, those benefiting from an internship allowance or scholarship that includes financial remuneration will not be eligible for the stipend. IOM provides coverage against occupational accidents and illnesses under the Compensation Plan for the duration of the assignment, but does not offer evacuation or medical insurance for non-occupational accidents or illnesses. Interns are responsible for their own medical insurance and must provide proof of coverage before starting work. IOM has a zero-tolerance policy on conduct that is incompatible with the aims and objectives of the United Nations and IOM, including sexual exploitation and abuse, sexual harassment, and discrimination. IOM does not charge a fee at any stage of its recruitment process and only accepts applications submitted through its online recruitment system.
