Job Overview: The Outreach Assistant position is integral to IOM Germany's Outreach Team, which operates under the Project Support and Operational Compliance Unit. The primary goal of this team is to inform migrants and stakeholders about IOM's programs and activities, both within Germany and in migrants' countries of origin. The Outreach Assistant will be responsible for developing and disseminating informational materials through various channels, particularly social media, to effectively reach and inform migrants about voluntary return and reintegration support options. This role requires a proactive approach to project implementation and monitoring, as well as the ability to create engaging content that resonates with target audiences. The Outreach Assistant will work closely with the National Project Officer and the Chief of Mission to ensure that outreach strategies are effectively executed and that project activities are aligned with IOM's objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Outreach Assistant will have a diverse set of responsibilities, including but not limited to: assisting in the implementation and monitoring of outreach project activities; developing outreach strategies to effectively reach migrants and relevant stakeholders; compiling and summarizing information on project topics; providing technical advice and content guidance to enhance data visibility; designing and producing communication materials; coordinating administrative tasks related to project implementation; drafting various forms of documentation, including reports and presentations; producing content for events and online marketing campaigns; responding to information requests; maintaining organized files and records; and performing any other duties as assigned by supervisors. This role requires a high level of creativity, organization, and communication skills to ensure successful outreach efforts.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a school diploma with four years of relevant experience or a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Visual Arts, Graphic Design, Art and Design, or a related field from an accredited institution, along with at least two years of relevant professional experience. Experience in media and communication, particularly in social media, is essential. Candidates should also have experience in social media and search engine advertising, as well as in producing printed media and visuals for social media. Familiarity with video production and project management activities is advantageous, as is experience liaising with governmental authorities and international organizations. Knowledge of migration issues, particularly Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration (AVRR), is also beneficial.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes either a school diploma with four years of relevant experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Marketing, Communications, Visual Arts, Graphic Design, or Art and Design from an accredited academic institution. Accredited universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database, ensuring that candidates have received a recognized and quality education that equips them with the necessary skills for this role.
Experience: The position requires candidates to have a minimum of two years of relevant professional experience, particularly in media and communication, social media management, and project support. Experience in producing printed media, infographics, and visuals for social media is crucial. Additionally, candidates should have a background in video production and project management, as well as experience working with governmental authorities and international organizations. Familiarity with migration issues and working with vulnerable groups, such as migrants and refugees, is highly advantageous and will enhance a candidate's suitability for the role.
Languages: Fluency in English and German, both oral and written, is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of additional languages, such as Arabic or Russian, is considered an advantage and may enhance communication with diverse migrant populations. Proficiency in the required languages will be evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and oral assessments to ensure candidates meet the language requirements effectively.
Additional Notes: This position is subject to local recruitment, meaning that only candidates holding a valid residence and work permit for Germany will be considered. The appointment will be contingent upon the candidate's medical fitness for the role, as well as verification of residency, visa, and necessary government authorizations. The selection process may also be used to fill similar positions in various duty stations, and recommended candidates will remain eligible for appointment in similar roles for a period of 24 months.
