Job Overview: The Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) Innovation Specialist will play a crucial role in the Innovation and Transformation Branch of UNFPA, particularly within the WomenX Collective initiative. This position is designed to provide technical guidance and support for the development and implementation of innovative strategies aimed at addressing unmet health needs in women and girls. The Specialist will work closely with the Global Coordinator of the WomenX Collective to conceptualize and execute a holistic strategy that leverages innovation and technology to improve women's health outcomes. The role involves identifying and assessing emerging innovations in SRH, ensuring they align with the needs of women and girls, and supporting the development of quality standards for these innovations. The Specialist will also engage in capacity building, stakeholder collaboration, and community engagement to ensure the successful scaling of innovative solutions.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide technical guidance to support the conceptualization and implementation of the WomenX Collective strategy.
Assist in building a pipeline of impactful solutions for women's health.
Formulate forward-thinking strategies and assess emerging innovations in SRH.
Collaborate with stakeholders for the scaling of innovative solutions.
Support the design and implementation of calls for proposals and oversee pilot projects.
Contribute to strategic planning and analytics for the WomenX Collective.
Develop and implement quality standards and guidelines for SRH innovations.
Monitor and evaluate the impact of projects and initiatives.
Disseminate knowledge and best practices within the ecosystem. 1
Engage with internal and external stakeholders to leverage resources for scaling innovations.
Required Qualifications: An advanced university degree in public health, medicine, social sciences, or related fields is required. Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in developing and implementing innovative solutions in sexual and reproductive health or related fields. Experience in project management, proposal design, and liaising with project partners is essential. Familiarity with the UN system and innovation portfolio management is desirable. Strong report writing, communication, and presentation skills are necessary, along with the ability to work harmoniously with diverse teams.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in public health, medicine, social sciences, public health epidemiology, or related areas. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of sexual and reproductive health and the ability to develop innovative solutions.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in the field of sexual and reproductive health, particularly in developing and implementing innovative solutions. Candidates should have experience in managing projects from conception to implementation, including designing and appraising proposals. Field experience is considered an asset, as is familiarity with the UN system and innovation portfolio management.
Languages: Fluency in English is required for this position. Knowledge of other official UN languages, particularly French and/or Spanish, is desirable and would be considered an asset in the role.
