Job Overview: The LGBT Rights Program (ECA) Intern position at Human Rights Watch in Berlin is designed for an enrolled student who is eager to support the organization's work in the Europe and Central Asia (ECA) region. The intern may also engage in remote interviews with victims or witnesses of human rights violations under the supervision of HRW staff. Other related assignments may be assigned as they arise, and students will have opportunities to attend internal meetings, lectures, and workshops related to human rights.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must be currently enrolled students in law, international relations, political science, or a related field. They must be eligible for a 'pflichtpraktikum,' meaning the internship should be mandatory in relation to their studies. A strong background or interest in human rights, particularly LGBT rights, is highly preferred. Candidates should possess strong writing and research skills, and are encouraged to submit a writing sample related to human rights. Full professional proficiency in English is required, and advanced proficiency in Turkish, Russian, Ukrainian, Georgian, or Armenian is highly desirable. Other language skills are also considered beneficial. Proficiency in computer skills, particularly Microsoft Office Suite, is required, along with attention to detail, a positive attitude, and good judgment.
