Job Overview:
The position of Praktikant*in in the project 'Strategieberatung Wiederaufbau und Transformation MENA' involves providing advisory support to the Middle East departments of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) on issues related to conflict and fragility in the MENA region. This includes topics such as fragility and crisis prevention, migration and displacement, collaboration with the economy, and advising on alliances. The goal of the project is to provide substantive advice to the departments regarding the design of their portfolios and to support the expansion of strategic partnerships. Additionally, the project serves as the secretariat for the BMZ platform 'Neuanfang für Syrien' and assists the ministry in organizing events and exchange formats, both digitally and in person.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for supporting the preparation and execution of events and dialogue formats for the project and the BMZ, whether digital or in-person. They will assist in the creation and dissemination of various advisory products related to fragility, migration, economic collaboration, climate and environment, or regional institutions. Participation in events related to the project and documenting these events will also be part of their responsibilities. Furthermore, the intern will support additional tasks related to the aforementioned thematic areas, ensuring that all activities align with the project's objectives.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must have completed a (basic) degree in political science, social sciences, Middle Eastern studies, or a comparable qualification. They should possess well-developed communication and social skills, flexibility, and structured, conceptual thinking. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential, particularly for summarizing and presenting complex issues clearly. Teamwork, quick comprehension, a high degree of self-organization, and attention to detail are also important. Experience in organizing events is advantageous, as is initial experience in international development cooperation and foreign experience in the region. Proficiency in German and English is required, while knowledge of Arabic is a plus.

Educational Background:
The position requires a completed (basic) degree in fields such as political science, social sciences, Middle Eastern studies, or a similar qualification. It is essential that candidates are currently enrolled in a program that includes an internship as an integral part of their studies, or that their degree was completed no more than six months prior to the start of the internship.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have initial experience in international development cooperation and preferably some foreign experience in the MENA region. Experience in organizing events is also beneficial, as it will contribute to the intern's ability to effectively support the project’s activities.

Languages:
Fluent German and English language skills, both spoken and written, are mandatory for this position. Knowledge of Arabic is considered an advantage, enhancing the candidate's ability to engage with the project's focus areas and stakeholders.
