Job Overview:
The Programme Analyst (Sanitation) will play a crucial role in supporting the implementation of sanitation projects in São Paulo, Brazil. Reporting to the Head of the Brazil Office and Officer-in-Charge for the Southern Cone Office, the analyst will provide managerial support and technical advice to ensure the successful execution of the Municipal Basic Sanitation Plan (PMSB). This position requires close collaboration with operational and technical teams within UN-Habitat and various stakeholders, including government entities, civil society organizations, and the private sector. The analyst will be responsible for coordinating project activities, maintaining communication with local partners, and ensuring that project objectives are met in terms of deadlines, budget, and quality. The role also involves documenting project progress, conducting technical activities, and participating in meetings and conferences to promote successful practices and experiences.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Programme Analyst (Sanitation) will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including: 1) Providing technical advice and support for the execution of project activities. 2) Coordinating the overall implementation of the project work programme, including the development, approval, and execution of activities. 3) Maintaining close communication with local counterparts and partners, such as government agencies, civil society organizations, and the private sector. 4) Conducting technical, administrative, and management activities to ensure project objectives are achieved regarding deadlines, budget, and quality. 5) Offering technical support in areas such as training and development, urban data management, public policies, strategic planning, localization of the SDGs, social mobilization, and effective advocacy. 6) Documenting expert group meetings and preparing reports for partners and internal stakeholders. 7) Identifying and mitigating project risks and challenges. 8) Participating in missions and completing required training courses, including the BSAFE security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security course.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a postgraduate degree (Lato Sensu or Stricto Sensu) in fields such as Sanitation Engineering, Environment Engineering, Civil Engineering, Public Administration, Public Policy, International Relations, Urban Studies, Social Sciences, or related areas. Alternatively, candidates with a bachelor's degree in the aforementioned fields and an additional four years of relevant experience may also apply. Professional experience in project/programme management related to urban development is essential, with a minimum of four years required. Experience in sanitation planning and participatory activities is desirable, as is familiarity with UN or other international agencies.

Educational Background:
The educational requirements for this position include a postgraduate degree in relevant fields such as Sanitation Engineering, Environment Engineering, Civil Engineering, Public Administration, Public Policy, International Relations, Urban Studies, or Social Sciences. A bachelor's degree in these areas is also required, along with relevant experience that compensates for any educational deficiencies.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have a minimum of four years of experience in project or programme management, specifically in urban development. Experience in sanitation planning and the ability to design and conduct participatory activities are highly desirable. Familiarity with the workings of UN agencies or other international organizations will be an added advantage.

Languages:
Fluency in Portuguese is mandatory for this position, given the local context of the work. Additionally, working knowledge of English is desirable, as English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat, while Spanish is the working language of the Regional Office.

Additional Notes:
This position is based locally in Brazil, and only nationals or candidates with a permanent visa in Brazil may apply. The contract is for a duration of one month, with the possibility of extension based on performance and availability of funds. The remuneration for this position is set at SB-4/1, amounting to BRL 8,715.60 (net amount).
