Job Overview:
The intern will work under the supervision of the Women, Peace, Security (WPS) Programme Analyst and the overall supervision of the UN Women Libya Head of Programmes. The role involves close collaboration with the Programme Team to provide timely support in executing processes and activities related to the WPS Programme and other cross-cutting areas such as knowledge management, research, and analysis. The intern will gain practical experience in the WPS agenda, women's political participation, and Libya's National Reconciliation Process, while also enhancing their understanding of UN Women’s work and the UN system. This internship is designed to provide a comprehensive learning experience, including networking opportunities with UN Women colleagues and developing soft skills in a multicultural environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for providing technical support in the formulation and management of programs related to Women, Peace, and Security, as well as women's political participation in Libya. Specific tasks include analyzing the Libyan political landscape to contribute to building partnerships and resource mobilization strategies, providing inputs for advocacy and communication efforts, offering administrative support to the Programme Unit, assisting in planning and conducting public events such as conferences and seminars, and preparing briefing materials for high-level meetings and international visits. The intern will also be expected to engage in knowledge sharing and contribute to the overall objectives of the Programme Unit.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess excellent research, writing, and organizational skills. They should demonstrate the ability to work effectively with various stakeholders, manage competing priorities, and produce high-quality deliverables in a timely manner. The role requires strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Additionally, candidates should exhibit initiative, the ability to ask questions, and a willingness to contribute substantively to the team’s efforts.

Educational Background:
Applicants must have university studies in disciplines such as gender studies, human rights, international relations, literature, political science, or other relevant fields. Candidates must meet one of the following criteria: be enrolled in a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); be in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent); have graduated with a university degree and commence the internship within two years of graduation; or be enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship program that requires the internship as part of the program.

Experience:
The position is designed for individuals who are either currently enrolled in a relevant academic program or have recently graduated. Therefore, prior professional experience is not strictly required, but any relevant internships or volunteer work in related fields would be advantageous. The focus is on providing a learning opportunity for candidates to gain practical experience in the field of gender equality and women's empowerment.

Languages:
Excellent communication skills in English, both written and oral, are mandatory for this position. Knowledge of another UN language is considered an advantage, as it may enhance the intern's ability to engage with diverse stakeholders and contribute to the organization's objectives.

Additional Notes:
The internship is unpaid, but interns who do not receive financial support from other sources will receive a stipend from UN Women to help cover basic living costs during the internship period.
