Job Overview: The position of Consultor Sênior para Programas de Segurança Alimentar e Nutricional involves providing technical consultancy for the 'Além do Algodão' project, which focuses on developing and monitoring actions aimed at strengthening nutrition" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">food and nutrition security policies and programs. This role incorporates an intercultural perspective as a central strategy to reduce social inequalities. The consultant will work closely with the WFP's Centre of Excellence against Hunger, which was established in 2011 as a partnership between WFP and the Brazilian government to facilitate the exchange of solutions in South-South and Trilateral cooperation. The consultant will contribute to the development of policies and programs that promote healthy and adequate food, supporting the construction of more resilient and equitable food systems that can ensure food security and nutrition, particularly in vulnerable communities affected by climate change. The role requires collaboration with various stakeholders, including government bodies, civil society, and academic institutions, to ensure that the needs of marginalized groups are addressed effectively.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will be responsible for facilitating dialogue and participatory solution-building among different social actors while respecting their cultural particularities. Key responsibilities include supporting exchanges for technical staff and civil society to experience policy implementation in different South-South contexts, forming networks of experts in food systems, climate resilience, and traditional food cultures, organizing intercultural seminars, and developing strategies for effective public participation in food and nutrition security policies. The consultant will also monitor project activities, prepare reports, and develop new project proposals in the areas of nutrition, food security, and climate. Ensuring compliance with WFP policies and procedures is also a critical responsibility of this role.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a higher education degree in nutrition, anthropology, social sciences, or humanities. A minimum of 7 years of experience in food and nutrition policies and projects is required, with experience in networks related to food security and UN agencies considered an asset. The ability to work with diverse expert networks and experience in projects that interface food with cultural traditions and health is essential. Experience in project monitoring is also required.
Educational Background: A completed higher education degree in relevant fields such as nutrition, anthropology, social sciences, or humanities is mandatory for this position. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of food systems and nutrition policies.
Experience: The position requires at least 7 years of relevant experience in food and nutrition policies and projects. Candidates should have a proven track record of working with diverse stakeholders and managing projects that address food security and nutrition issues, particularly in international or national cooperation contexts. Experience in monitoring and evaluating projects is also essential.
Languages: Fluency in oral and written Portuguese is mandatory. Knowledge of English and Spanish is considered a valuable asset, enhancing communication and collaboration with international partners.
Additional Notes: The contract type for this position is a Special Services Agreement (SSA) with a duration of 11 months.
