The UN Country Team in China consists of multiple UN entities working collaboratively to enhance the effectiveness of their operations and partnerships with the Chinese government and other stakeholders.

Job Overview:
The Partnership Intern will play a crucial role in facilitating partnership activities for the UN in China, working closely with government counterparts, foreign missions, the private sector, and civil society. This position is designed to support the UN Resident Coordinator's Office (RCO) in its mission to enhance the coherence and impact of the UN System in China. The intern will be involved in strategic analysis, planning, and the preparation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNCF). The role requires a proactive approach to research, analysis, and advisory expertise on public-private partnerships, ensuring alignment with both RCO policies and the Chinese government's regulations. The internship is full-time and unpaid, with a minimum duration of two months, extendable up to six months, requiring a commitment of five days per week (37.5 hours).

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Partnership Intern's responsibilities will include supporting the organization of major events for the RCO, providing logistics support, drafting briefing documents and speeches, and compiling presentation materials. The intern will assist in preparing background information and documentation on key policies and developments in China. Additionally, the intern will support the organization and follow-up of inter-agency and high-level meetings attended by the Resident Coordinator or RCO staff members. The role also involves logistical and substantive support for high-level UN delegations visiting China. Duties may vary based on the intern's background and the duration of the internship, allowing for a tailored experience that aligns with the intern's skills and interests.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria: (a) be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). A background in international development studies, economics, computer sciences, statistics, political sciences, or a related field is required. The position demands strong analytical skills, the ability to build relationships with clients, and a positive, constructive attitude towards work. Excellent teamwork, oral and written communication skills, and the ability to work independently in a multicultural environment are essential. Familiarity with technical guidelines and organizational policies is also important.

Educational Background:
Candidates should have a relevant educational background, either being enrolled in or having completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. program. The field of study should closely relate to the internship's focus, such as international development, economics, or political science. Proof of enrollment or completion of the required academic program must be provided during the application process.

Experience:
While professional work experience is not mandatory for applicants to the UN Internship Programme, candidates should have a field of study that closely relates to the internship. This means that applicants should ideally have academic experience or coursework relevant to the responsibilities of the Partnership Intern role. The internship is designed for students in their final year of undergraduate studies or those pursuing advanced degrees, allowing them to gain practical experience in a professional setting.

Languages:
Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship, as English is one of the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Knowledge of French is also beneficial, as it is another working language. Additionally, familiarity with the Chinese language is considered an advantage, enhancing communication with local stakeholders and partners.

Additional Notes:
The internship is unpaid, and interns are responsible for their own travel, visa, accommodation, and living expenses. Interns who are not citizens or permanent residents of China may need to obtain the appropriate visa and work authorization.
