Job Overview: This position involves providing technical support for the collection and analysis of data related to intentional lethal violence against children and adolescents. The consultant will be expected to utilize their expertise in data analysis and public policy to contribute to the understanding of violence in these demographics. The role requires a deep understanding of the social and psychological factors that contribute to violence against children and adolescents, as well as the ability to analyze complex data sets to inform policy recommendations. The consultant will work closely with various stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and community organizations, to ensure that the data collected is relevant and actionable. The position is expected to last for a period of 450 days, during which the consultant will be responsible for delivering comprehensive reports and presentations based on their findings.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will be responsible for the following duties and responsibilities:
Conducting thorough data collection and analysis on incidents of violence against children and adolescents.
Collaborating with local authorities and organizations to gather relevant data and insights.
Developing methodologies for data analysis that are appropriate for the context of violence against children.
Preparing detailed reports that summarize findings and provide actionable recommendations for policymakers.
Presenting findings to stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
Ensuring that all data collection and analysis adheres to ethical standards and respects the rights of individuals involved.
Engaging in continuous communication with UNDP and other partners to align objectives and share progress.
Providing training and support to local teams on data collection and analysis techniques.
Required Qualifications: The position requires the following qualifications:
A completed postgraduate degree (stricto sensu) in Psychology, Public Health, Sociology, Public Policy, Data Science, Computer Science, or related fields. Alternatively, a completed undergraduate degree in the same areas may be considered if the candidate has two additional years of relevant experience.
Proven professional and/or academic experience of at least five years in fields such as psychometrics, data analysis, public and social policy, or other related areas.
Fluency in Portuguese is mandatory.
Candidates must be Brazilian nationals or have legal authorization to work in Brazil.
Experience in working with governmental or non-governmental organizations is an advantage.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a postgraduate degree (stricto sensu) in relevant fields such as Psychology, Public Health, Sociology, Public Policy, Data Science, Computer Science, or related areas. If only an undergraduate degree is held, candidates must have two additional years of relevant experience to qualify for the position. This educational background is crucial as it provides the necessary theoretical and practical knowledge required for effective data analysis and understanding of the social issues at hand.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of five years of proven professional and/or academic experience in relevant fields. This experience should encompass work related to psychometrics, data analysis, and public and social policy. Candidates should be able to demonstrate their expertise through a detailed curriculum vitae that outlines their previous roles and contributions in these areas. Experience in similar consultancy roles or projects will be highly regarded.
Languages: Fluency in Portuguese is mandatory for this position, as the work will involve communication with local stakeholders and the analysis of data in the local context. While not mandatory, proficiency in English or Spanish may be considered an asset, as it could facilitate communication with international partners and enhance the consultant's ability to engage with a broader audience.
Additional Notes: The contract duration for this consultancy is set for 450 days, and it is expected to be a full-time engagement. The position is open to Brazilian nationals or individuals with legal authorization to work in Brazil. Compensation details will be discussed during the selection process, and payments will be made via bank transfer upon acceptance of deliverables as specified in the Terms of Reference (TOR).
