Job Overview: The Shelter/WASH Project Coordinator is responsible for leading the implementation of infrastructural projects related to water supply, wastewater management, energy solutions, and shelter construction or rehabilitation in both urban and rural settings. This role involves overseeing the planning, design, and supervision of Shelter and WASH activities, ensuring that they align with NRC standards and national regulations. The coordinator will manage a technical team, set clear objectives, and monitor performance while ensuring compliance with NRC's building refurbishment strategy. The position requires a proactive approach to project management, including budget oversight, stakeholder collaboration, and community engagement. The coordinator will also contribute to the development of strategies and tools to enhance the effectiveness of Shelter/WASH initiatives, ensuring that the needs of internally displaced persons (IDPs) are met in accordance with NRC's advocacy strategy.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Shelter/WASH Project Coordinator will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including:
Directly managing the Shelter/WASH technical team, establishing clear objectives and performance indicators.
Ensuring compliance with NRC's building refurbishment strategy, tools, guidelines, and standards.
Contributing to the development of core competency strategies and identifying needs and gaps in the implementation area.
Managing a portfolio of Shelter/WASH projects, ensuring high technical quality and adherence to proposals, strategies, and donor requirements.
Monitoring project spending to align with the budget.
Promoting improvements and necessary changes in project activities.
Building the capacity of project staff and transferring key skills.
Collaborating with local authorities and stakeholders.
Advocating for the rights of IDPs in line with NRC's strategy. Specific responsibilities include conducting technical assessments, developing guidance tools, supervising project team members, ensuring community sensitization, documenting activities, cooperating with other departments, participating in tendering processes, and assisting with report drafting and proposal writing.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field, along with a minimum of three years of relevant experience in construction works or Shelter/WASH programming. Additionally, candidates should have at least three years of experience in people management. Documented technical competencies and results related to the position's responsibilities are essential. A good working knowledge of the international humanitarian sector, including the UN cluster system, is required, as well as excellent interpersonal and networking skills.
