This position is designed for individuals who can contribute to the efficient management of financial resources and support the agency's scientific objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Finance Assistant will perform a variety of duties under the supervision of the Finance Officer, including but not limited to: 1) Processing accounts payable invoices, Collaborative Research Agreements (CRA), and other financial agreements. 2) Reconciling accounts by making necessary adjustments, clearing advances, and maintaining detailed documentation. 3) Recording revenue in the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system (SAP), including categorization, documentation, and reporting of financial transactions. 4) Managing the asset register, running depreciation, and generating reports. 5) Liaising with banks to address queries and assist in managing the bank's portfolio. 6) Calculating and recording interest income, ensuring accurate documentation and monitoring of interest rates. 7) Providing backup support during the testing phase of the new ERP system. 8) Assisting with the translation of financial documents. 9) Performing other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess essential qualifications including a graduation from secondary school or equivalent, complemented by training in accounting at the Brevet de Technicien Supérieur (BTS) level. Desirable qualifications include a relevant university degree in accounting or certifications such as Diplôme de Comptabilité et de Gestion (DCG) and Diplôme Supérieur de Comptabilité et de Gestion (DSCG). Knowledge of IPSAS or IFRS is also beneficial. Candidates should demonstrate strong organizational and analytical skills, proficiency in Microsoft 365, and familiarity with SAP or other ERP systems.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a secondary school graduation or equivalent, along with subsequent training in accounting at the BTS level. A relevant university degree in accounting or professional certifications such as DCG or DSCG are desirable. Knowledge of international accounting standards is also preferred.
Experience: For the GS5 level, candidates should have at least five years of experience in similar positions, with a focus on ledger maintenance practices. For the GS4 level, a minimum of three years of relevant experience is required. Experience in governmental or international institutions is considered an asset.
Languages: Excellent knowledge of English and/or French is mandatory, with a working knowledge of the other language being advantageous. Proficiency in both languages will enhance communication and collaboration within the multicultural environment of IARC.
