Job Overview:
The internship is primarily attached to the National Association within the Communication service, with the main objective being to gain solid experience in media relations related to various operations conducted by Handicap International. Interns will engage in activities such as making follow-up phone calls to journalists regarding the association's news (including solidarity products, shoe pyramids, humanitarian crises, and armed conflicts), supporting daily media relations tasks (creating new contacts with journalists, drafting and distributing press releases, managing and following up on interviews), and conducting assessments and analyses of media coverage for all operations of Handicap International. This role is designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the media landscape and enhance communication skills in a professional setting.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Conduct follow-up phone calls to journalists in line with the association's news and activities.
  • Assist in daily media relations tasks, including creating and maintaining contacts with journalists.
  • Draft and disseminate press releases to relevant media outlets.
  • Manage and follow up on interviews with journalists and other media representatives.
  • Analyze and report on media coverage and outcomes related to Handicap International's operations.
  • Collaborate with the communication team to develop strategies for effective media engagement.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for improving media outreach efforts.
  • Maintain an organized database of media contacts and coverage results.
  • Support the development of communication materials that align with the organization's mission and values.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must be currently enrolled in a training program related to communication, political science, or international relations. They should possess experience in media relations and demonstrate strong written and oral communication skills in both French and English. A good understanding of the French media landscape, including radio, television, and print media, is essential. Candidates should also be proactive, able to take initiatives, and work autonomously. Educational Background:
The position requires candidates to be in training or education related to communication, political science, or international relations. This educational background is crucial for understanding the dynamics of media relations and effective communication strategies.

Experience:

Languages:
Fluency in French is mandatory, as it is the primary language of communication within the organization and with the media. Proficiency in English is also required, as it facilitates communication in an international context. Additional languages may be considered an asset but are not mandatory.

  • The organization offers a flexible work environment, including a restaurant ticket system (60% covered by HI), a telework charter allowing for a minimum of 8 days of in-person work per month, and reimbursement of 50% of transportation subscriptions.
