Job Overview: The Programme and Executive Associate position at UN Women involves providing essential finance and administrative support to the Programme Team, ensuring the effective implementation and monitoring of programs aimed at empowering women and promoting gender equality in China. The role requires collaboration with various stakeholders, including government agencies, civil society organizations, and other UN entities. The associate will contribute to research, financial management, and operational support, while also assisting the Country Representative with executive functions. The associate will also coordinate events, workshops, and training sessions focused on ending violence against women and girls, thereby playing a vital role in advancing UN Women’s mission in China.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide coordination support to the Programme Unit by coordinating the implementation of assigned programs with relevant partners and agencies, ensuring successful program execution. This includes logistical support for events and workshops, facilitating training sessions, and managing relationships with consultants and partners.
Offer financial and administrative support by ensuring compliance with financial processes, maintaining accurate records, and processing financial documentation. This includes managing project budgets, preparing routine correspondence, and organizing logistical requirements for events.
Support knowledge building and sharing within the programme unit by participating in training sessions and contributing to knowledge networks.
Provide executive and coordination support to the UN Women Head of the Office, managing the calendar, facilitating communication, and ensuring the smooth flow of information. This includes preparing correspondence, managing administrative files, and supporting corporate planning and reporting.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a secondary education with specialized certification in Accounting, Finance, international studies, or social sciences. A Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Public Administration, International Relations, or Social Sciences is desirable. The position requires a strong understanding of financial management, administrative processes, and program implementation, along with excellent organizational and communication skills. Candidates should demonstrate integrity, professionalism, and respect for diversity, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team and manage conflicts.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a secondary education with specialized certification in relevant fields such as Accounting and Finance, international studies, or social sciences. Familiarity with ERP systems, particularly ATLAS/Quantum, is advantageous, as is experience in organizing and completing tasks under time constraints.
Languages: Fluency in English and Chinese is mandatory for this position, as effective communication in both languages is essential for collaboration with diverse stakeholders.
