Job Overview:
The Senior Event Coordinator will play a crucial role in the successful execution of the Urban Circuit initiative, which aims to promote discussions on urban development themes throughout Brazil. This position requires close collaboration with UN-Habitat’s operational and technical teams to ensure that the project aligns with the organization's strategic goals. The coordinator will be responsible for defining a comprehensive work plan, managing the implementation of the Urban Circuit's strategy, and overseeing programmatic and communications teams. The role involves coordinating the delivery of the communication strategy, preparing guidelines for event proponents, and ensuring that all activities are executed according to established deadlines and quality standards. The Senior Event Coordinator will also be tasked with reporting on event production and evaluation, ensuring that all outputs meet the expectations of UN-Habitat.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Senior Event Coordinator will have a wide range of responsibilities, including: 1) Defining a detailed work plan that aligns with UN-Habitat's project schedule; 2) Managing the implementation of the Urban Circuit's strategy and plan; 3) Overseeing programmatic and communications teams to ensure effective collaboration; 4) Coordinating the content and delivery of the Urban Circuit's final program; 5) Developing guidelines for event proponents and speakers; 6) Managing communication channels for event proponents; 7) Reporting on the production and evaluation of events; 8) Handling pre-production and management of virtual events; 9) Maintaining an organized information file system; 10) Ensuring timely delivery of all products; 11) Preparing reports according to Brazilian standards; 12) Aligning technical activities with UN-Habitat's quality expectations; 13) Completing required training and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security courses; 14) Familiarizing oneself with UN security mechanisms and complying with them.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a postgraduate degree (Stricto Sensu) in event management or have six additional years of relevant experience beyond the educational requirement. A bachelor's degree in Administration, Public Relations, Social Sciences, Social Communication, or related fields is also desired. Candidates should have a minimum of fifteen years of experience in planning, coordination, and execution of events, with a strong emphasis on managing large-scale and virtual events. Experience in social development and environmental sustainability themes is desirable, along with a deep understanding of the Brazilian context and culture. Proficiency in computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Office and Google applications, is required, as well as familiarity with virtual event platforms and project management methodologies.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a postgraduate degree in event management or a related field. Additionally, a bachelor's degree in Administration, Public Relations, Social Sciences, or Social Communication is preferred. Candidates with extensive experience in lieu of formal education may also be considered, particularly those with significant experience in event management and coordination.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of fifteen years of professional experience in planning, coordinating, and executing events. Candidates should have a proven track record of managing large-scale and virtual events, demonstrating their ability to handle complex logistics and stakeholder engagement. Experience in social development and environmental sustainability is highly desirable, as is familiarity with the Brazilian cultural and social landscape.

Languages:
Fluency in Portuguese is mandatory for this position, as it is the primary language of communication within the UN-Habitat office in Brazil. Additionally, a good command of oral and written English is desirable, as English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Knowledge of Spanish is also beneficial, given its relevance to the Regional Office's operations.

Additional Notes:
This position is part-time (70%) and offers a total net remuneration of BRL 114,265.41, distributed across four payments tied to the delivery of specific products. The contract is initially for six months, with the possibility of extension based on performance and availability of funds. The appointment is on a local basis, and only nationals from Brazil or candidates with a permanent visa in Brazil may apply.
