The German development cooperation promotes the transformation of agricultural and food systems in partner countries towards greater resilience, sustainability, health, and gender equality. Interns will support the sector project in various tasks related to the transformation of food systems, including providing technical advice, conducting research, and assisting in the organization of events and training sessions. This role is ideal for students looking to gain practical experience in international development and food security.
Duties and Responsibilities: As an intern, you will assist with tasks related to the transformation of food systems, including:
Supporting technical advice in the area of food security and food system transformation, as well as UNFSS+4 and UNFCCC COP3
Compiling important reports on current developments in global food security in the form of position papers and statements.
Conducting ad-hoc research and assisting in the preparation of analyses and summaries.
Planning, executing, and following up on professional events and training sessions.
Documenting events and working meetings.
Further developing technical and conceptual ideas related to food security.
Required Qualifications: Candidates should be enrolled in a degree program from the third semester onwards in fields such as agricultural or nutritional sciences, public health, international relations/political science, environmental sciences, or a related field. Knowledge in areas such as food security, transformation, and sustainable food systems is essential, along with a desire to further qualify in these topics. Previous experience in international and/or German development cooperation is desirable, and having international experience is a plus. Candidates should also have a keen interest in climate, biodiversity, and gender-transformative approaches in development cooperation.
Educational Background: A minimum of being enrolled in a relevant degree program from the third semester onwards is required. Fields of study include agricultural sciences, nutritional sciences, public health, international relations, political science, environmental sciences, or related disciplines. Candidates must be currently enrolled or in a continuing education program that requires an internship, or have graduated no more than six months prior to the start of the internship.
Experience: While no extensive prior experience is required, candidates should have some familiarity with international development cooperation and ideally have some experience abroad. This internship is particularly suited for students who are eager to learn and gain practical experience in the field of food security and development.
Languages: Fluency in German, both spoken and written, is mandatory. Very good English language skills are also required. Knowledge of additional languages would be considered an asset, enhancing communication in an international context.

The project is expected to be extended beyond its current form, which may also extend the duration of the contract. The monthly stipend for interns is €2,205.04 (gross).
