Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will be responsible for a range of tasks that may vary based on their background and the specific needs of the assigned office. Key duties include:
  • Media Content Development: Drafting media advisories, press releases, and news stories in both English and Arabic, ensuring that all materials adhere to UN communication guidelines.
  • Research and Editorial Support: Conducting research and compiling information to assist in the creation of social media content and stories, often under tight deadlines.
  • Digital Media Management: Updating the UNIC-Cairo website and managing various social media platforms by posting relevant UN news and events.
  • Social Media Analytics and Engagement: Monitoring and analyzing social media performance metrics to evaluate content impact and optimize engagement strategies.
  • Translation and Localization: Supporting the translation of materials between Arabic and English to facilitate effective communication with diverse audiences.
  • Event and Media Support: Assisting in the organization of press conferences and other PR events, capturing media coverage through photos and videos, and supporting UNIC-Cairo events and campaigns as needed.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria: (a) be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). While professional work experience is not required, a field of study closely related to the internship is necessary. Candidates must be students in their final year of a bachelor’s, master’s, or Ph.D. program or have completed such programs.

Educational Background:
Candidates should possess a relevant educational background, ideally in fields such as communications, public relations, international relations, or a related discipline. The internship is open to those who are currently enrolled in or have completed their degree programs, ensuring that applicants have a solid foundation in the principles of media and communication.

Experience:
