Job Overview: The consultant will be responsible for developing a regional synthesis report that focuses on the rights and well-being of older persons in the Arab region. The consultant will conduct a comprehensive desk review of existing country profiles and national aging strategies, draft a synthesis report with policy recommendations, and present findings to UNFPA stakeholders. Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct a comprehensive desk review of the 19 country aging profiles and related literature, including the outcomes of the Second World Summit for Social Development.
Develop an inception report with a draft outline of the synthesis report for UNFPA approval.
Draft the regional synthesis report, including policy recommendations for national and regional actors.
Collaborate with the ASRO Population and Development team to ensure alignment and incorporate feedback.
Present key findings and recommendations during a virtual meeting with UNFPA focal points for feedback.
Finalize the report incorporating all feedback for approval by the ASRO Population and Development team.
Required Qualifications:
Advanced university degree in demography, population studies, social sciences, public policy, or related fields.
At least seven years of experience in research, policy analysis, or program implementation related to population and development, particularly in aging policies.
Proven experience with the older persons' agenda in the Arab region.
Demonstrated expertise in drafting technical reports and knowledge of international aging standards and best practices.
Strong communication and analytical skills, with experience in the Arab context being highly desirable.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in relevant fields such as demography, population studies, social sciences, or public policy. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of population aging and the associated policy implications.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of seven years of relevant experience in research, policy analysis, or program implementation, specifically in the area of population and development.
