Job Overview:
The Communications Officer position at WFP is designed to provide specialized research and communications services that enhance the visibility of the organization and support its advocacy efforts. The role involves developing and implementing a comprehensive social media strategy, creating engaging content for various platforms, and coordinating with field staff to gather relevant materials. The officer will also be responsible for producing multimedia content that aligns with WFP's communications priorities, managing a photo and video archive, and conducting interviews with beneficiaries to capture impactful stories. This position requires a proactive approach to staying updated on social media trends and performance metrics, ensuring that WFP's messaging is effective and resonates with its audience. The officer will also support the planning and execution of events and campaigns, contributing to the overall mission of WFP to provide humanitarian assistance.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Communications Officer will have a range of responsibilities, including but not limited to: developing an annual social media strategy and content plan; creating and managing social media content for the Country Office; coordinating with field staff for content gathering and managing communication channels; producing multimedia content such as videos and visuals for social media and events; monitoring social media trends and performance indicators; preparing biannual performance reports; liaising with the Regional Office and external partners for content alignment; maintaining a comprehensive photo and video archive; conducting field visits for content gathering; ensuring proper consent for all gathered content; leading capacity-building initiatives for staff in content gathering; and supporting the delivery of events and campaigns by designing branding materials.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Marketing, Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, Media, or a related field. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate fluency in both oral and written communication in English and Arabic. The role requires a strong understanding of digital media and marketing principles, as well as the ability to create compelling content that engages diverse audiences. Candidates should also have experience in managing social media platforms and developing strategic communication plans.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a relevant field such as Marketing, Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, or Media is required for this position. Advanced degrees or certifications in these areas may be advantageous and could potentially reduce the required years of experience.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have at least 6 years of experience in marketing, communications, digital media, or related fields if holding a Bachelor's degree. If the candidate possesses an additional degree or certification, a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience is required. This experience should include a demonstrated ability to develop and implement communication strategies, manage social media accounts, and produce multimedia content.

Languages:
Fluency in both English and Arabic is mandatory for this position, as effective communication in these languages is essential for engaging with diverse stakeholders and audiences. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset but is not required.
