Job Overview:
The intern will work under the direct supervision of the Regional Monitoring Advisor, gaining hands-on experience in monitoring and evaluation processes within the humanitarian sector. The role involves supporting the Country Offices in applying monitoring requirements and fulfilling donor obligations. The intern will engage in data management, analysis, and reporting, contributing to the development of dashboards and ensuring data quality. Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Support the Country Offices in applying monitoring requirements and fulfilling donor obligations.
  • Integrate monitoring data and reporting through analysis and dashboard creation.
  • Assist in the migration to the new data management system, IM-Ecosystem.
  • Contribute to the development of a regional trend analysis monitoring dashboard.
  • Follow up on data submissions on COMET and ensure timely reporting.
  • Conduct analysis and interpretation of monitoring data to meet the needs of Country Offices.
  • Collect, consolidate, and communicate key findings from monitoring exercises.
  • Develop country-specific dashboards for monitoring data.
  • Conduct regular data quality checks throughout the monitoring cycle to ensure data integrity. 1
  • Coordinate the cleaning and adjustment of the Monitoring Regional Library. 1
  • Archive and catalogue monitoring datasets and related documentation for closing offices, ensuring a clear directory structure and metadata sheet. 1
  • Implement a Data Quality Check (DQC) checklist and run cycles of checks on selected datasets, reporting on error rates and corrections. 1
  • Clean and standardize the Monitoring Regional Achieving/filing, providing a user guide.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must be Master's students or recent graduates who have attended classes in the past 12 months or graduated within six months prior to applying for the internship program. Preferred areas of study include Public and Social Policy, Development Studies, International Relations, Economics, Nutrition/Health, Agriculture, Environmental Science, Social Sciences, Business Administration, and Public Policy from a recognized university. Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) is essential, and familiarity with Tableau is desirable.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes being currently enrolled in a graduate program or having recently graduated from a graduate program in relevant fields such as Public and Social Policy, Development Studies, International Relations, Economics, Nutrition/Health, Agriculture, Environmental Science, Social Sciences, Business Administration, or Public Policy. Candidates should have attended classes within the last 12 months or graduated within six months prior to the application.

Experience:
The position is designed for students or recent graduates, thus requiring no prior professional experience in the field. However, familiarity with monitoring and evaluation processes, data analysis, and reporting in a humanitarian context is advantageous. The intern should be eager to learn and gain practical experience in an international organization.

Languages:
Excellent written and spoken English is mandatory, with proficiency at level C. A working knowledge of another official UN language such as French, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, Russian, or Portuguese is considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's profile for this position.

Additional Notes:
This internship is a full-time position based in Cairo, Egypt, with a duration of 3 to 12 months. The expected starting date is as soon as possible. The selected candidate will receive IT equipment and training materials; however, financial compensation and medical coverage are not provided by WFP. Candidates are encouraged to seek alternative funding opportunities, such as university grants or external scholarships, to support their assignment.
