Job Overview:
The position involves collaborating with IFPRI to conduct an impact evaluation survey as part of the Yemen Emergency Social Protection Enhancement and COVID-19 Response Project (ESPECRP). The survey firm will be responsible for implementing the evaluation at household, small firm, and village levels in selected governorates in Southern Yemen. The primary goal is to assess the effectiveness of geo-bundled interventions aimed at improving food security and resilience among vulnerable populations. The firm will work closely with local partners and IFPRI to design and administer questionnaires, analyze data, and report findings. This role requires a deep understanding of the local context and the ability to adapt methodologies to fit the Yemeni environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Obtain necessary permits and clearances for conducting the survey in Yemen, ensuring compliance with local regulations.
  • Develop and finalize survey questionnaires in collaboration with IFPRI, ensuring cultural relevance and appropriateness.
  • Recruit and train field researchers, including supervisors and quality controllers, ensuring a balanced representation of genders among interviewers.
  • Conduct pilot tests of the survey instruments to refine questions and data collection processes.
  • Implement the main data collection phase, ensuring adherence to timelines and quality standards.
  • Utilize a computerized data entry system for real-time monitoring and data management.
  • Conduct data cleaning and processing, ensuring the integrity and accuracy of the collected data.
  • Provide regular updates and reports to IFPRI on the progress of data collection and preliminary findings.
  • Engage with local communities and stakeholders to facilitate smooth survey operations and address any concerns. 1
  • Prepare final reports and presentations summarizing the findings of the impact evaluation.

Required Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in conducting large-scale surveys, particularly in challenging environments.
  • Strong understanding of quantitative research methodologies and data analysis techniques.
  • Familiarity with the Yemeni context and experience working in Yemen or similar settings is highly desirable.
  • Ability to recruit and manage a diverse team of field researchers, ensuring gender balance and local representation.
  • Excellent communication skills in both English and Arabic, with the ability to engage effectively with local communities and stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.

Educational Background:
A minimum of a bachelor's degree in social sciences, public health, economics, or a related field is required. Advanced degrees (master's or PhD) are preferred, particularly in fields related to development studies, agricultural economics, or public policy. Relevant certifications in research methodologies or data analysis are also advantageous.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have at least 5 years of experience in conducting surveys and evaluations, with a focus on social protection, food security, or related areas. Experience working with international organizations, NGOs, or government agencies in similar roles is highly valued. Familiarity with data analysis software such as STATA or SPSS is also required.

Languages:
Fluency in Arabic is mandatory, as the survey will be conducted in local communities. Proficiency in English is also required for reporting and communication with IFPRI. Knowledge of additional local dialects or languages may be considered an asset.

Additional Notes:
The contract duration for this position is from May 2025 to August 2026, with the possibility of extension based on project needs. This is a full-time position, and the survey firm will be expected to recruit staff locally. Compensation will be competitive and commensurate with experience, and benefits may include health insurance and allowances for travel and accommodation during fieldwork.
