Job Overview: The Project Manager will be responsible for the design, planning, and successful delivery of gender-transformative projects throughout the entire project management cycle. This role requires adherence to donor requirements and Plan International's minimum standards and best practices. The Project Manager will lead the project team and oversee all aspects of the project, ensuring compliance with the organization's policies related to safeguarding, gender equality, inclusion, and diversity. The position involves collaborating with local partners, establishing project governance structures, and developing detailed implementation plans that encompass risk management, procurement, human resources, monitoring, and budgeting. The Project Manager will also be responsible for integrating gender-transformative approaches and safeguarding measures into project design and execution, ensuring effective monitoring and evaluation, and facilitating smooth project closure.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Project Manager will initiate project ideas in alignment with the country strategy and identify potential local partners. They will lead due diligence to ensure project feasibility, shape gender-transformative scopes with partners, analyze risks and resource needs, and manage pre-startup activities. The role includes collaborating with partners to establish governance structures, developing detailed implementation plans, and launching the project both internally and externally. The Project Manager will coordinate project implementation, oversee monitoring and evaluation, manage risks, procurement, and finances, and ensure timely reporting. They will integrate gender-transformative approaches and safeguarding measures, establish data collection systems, and maintain compliance with global data privacy policies. The Project Manager will also lead project closure by reviewing achievements, finalizing activities, leading evaluations, and maintaining institutional memory through proper archiving and knowledge management. Additionally, they will provide leadership by modeling values, motivating the team, clarifying objectives, and managing resources while maintaining strong partner relationships.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must have experience in project management and a solid understanding of project cycle management best practices. They should have experience working with partner organizations, co-creating initiatives, and mutual oversight. Knowledge and experience in project budgeting, activity monitoring, and expenditure tracking are essential. Candidates should also be knowledgeable in monitoring and evaluation activities, human resources management, procurement processes, and supply chain management. Experience in managing teams and a good working knowledge of donor compliance are also required. Experience in working with diverse stakeholders, including community-based organizations and local partners, is crucial. Additional Notes: The position is based on-site in either Cairo or Assuit and reports to the Upper Egypt Area Manager. The job grade is Hay Level 1
