Duties and Responsibilities: The Protocol Intern will have a range of responsibilities, including but not limited to: preparing draft Note Verbales to government counterparts, particularly the Protocol Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, regarding diplomatic immunities and privileges; engaging with government counterparts to address practical protocol issues; supporting the UN Country Team in their requests for protocol-related assistance; and providing logistical and substantive support for incoming high-level UN delegations. The intern will collaborate closely with the Partnership and Financing Officer and other stakeholders to ensure the successful completion of assigned tasks, which may vary based on the intern's background and the internship duration.
Required Qualifications: Applicants must meet one of the following criteria: (a) be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or (b) be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent). While professional work experience is not required for the UN Internship Programme, candidates should have a field of study closely related to the internship they are applying for, such as international relations, public policy, or diplomacy.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes either a graduate degree or a bachelor's degree in a relevant field. Candidates should be enrolled in or have completed their studies in disciplines that align with the responsibilities of the internship, such as international relations, political science, or public administration, which will provide them with the necessary knowledge and skills to perform effectively in the role.
Experience: The position does not require prior professional work experience, making it suitable for recent graduates or students who are currently enrolled in relevant academic programs.
