Job Overview:
The position of Praktikant*in in the GIZ Globalvorhaben Refugee Inclusion Accelerator (RISE) is designed for students who are eager to contribute to humanitarian and development efforts aimed at integrating refugees into national systems. The intern will support the global management unit in Germany with program planning, management, and execution. This role is crucial in addressing the needs of the 140 million people currently displaced worldwide, as recognized by the UNHCR. The intern will be involved in various tasks that include assisting program management, preparing documentation for internal meetings, developing communication products, and conducting program monitoring. This internship offers a unique opportunity to engage with significant global issues and contribute to impactful projects.

Duties and Responsibilities:
As an intern in the RISE program, your responsibilities will include: assisting the program management in organizational and strategic processes, preparing and documenting internal team meetings and workshops, supporting the development of communication products for both internal and external audiences, conducting program monitoring, and creating documents such as lessons learned and best practice examples. Additionally, you will be expected to perform research related to the program's thematic areas, which will enhance your understanding of the challenges and solutions in refugee integration.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must be students in fields such as social sciences, international relations, peace and conflict studies, refugee and migration studies, or other relevant areas. A fundamental understanding of key issues related to displacement and relevant documents and frameworks is essential. Candidates should also possess a basic understanding of development policy and humanitarian measures, along with relevant political approaches. Previous work experience in project management support, preferably abroad, is advantageous. Excellent communication skills in both German and English, both written and spoken, are required. The ability to translate complex content into relevant internal and external communication products is a plus. Proficiency in relevant digital tools and general digital competence is also necessary.

Educational Background:
The ideal candidate should be currently enrolled in a university program or in a training program that requires an internship as an integral part. Alternatively, candidates who have graduated within the last six months are also eligible to apply. This ensures that the internship is relevant to the candidate's educational journey and professional development.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have some prior work experience, particularly in supporting project management. This experience can be gained through internships, volunteer work, or relevant academic projects, preferably in an international context. The emphasis is on the ability to apply theoretical knowledge in practical settings, particularly in areas related to humanitarian and development work.

Languages:
Proficiency in German and English is mandatory for this position, as effective communication is crucial in both internal and external interactions. Additional language skills may be considered an asset, particularly if they relate to the regions or communities served by the GIZ projects.

  • The monthly stipend for interns is €2,205.04 (gross).
