Job Overview:
The National SRHR Consultant will play a crucial role in supporting UNFPA's 7th Country Programme of Support to the Government of Papua New Guinea. This position requires a technical expert who will work under the guidance of the UNFPA Representative and the Deputy Representative, collaborating closely with program staff and various stakeholders, including the National Department of Health and NGO partners. The consultant will focus on enhancing family planning, maternal health, adolescent and youth health, HIV prevention, and reproductive health commodity security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security. The role involves providing technical support, conducting research, and facilitating training activities to build the capacity of national counterparts and service providers. The consultant will also be responsible for promoting partnerships and strategic alliances in reproductive health, contributing to UN systems coordination, and participating in policy dialogues and reporting initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The National SRHR Consultant will be responsible for providing technical guidance and oversight for a comprehensive sexual and reproductive health response. This includes addressing family planning, reproductive health commodity security, and health systems strengthening. The consultant will work collaboratively to enhance the availability and quality of SRHR services, focusing on upskilling health service providers and ensuring access to comprehensive care. Additionally, the consultant will support SRHR innovation, mobilize resources, and monitor the implementation of initiatives funded by the 2025 Maternal Health and Health Supplies Partnership. The role requires active engagement with government counterparts, multi-lateral and bilateral agencies, and civil society to strengthen the overall SRHR framework in Papua New Guinea.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in public health, medicine, health management, pharmacy, supply chain management, social sciences, or a related field. A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in sexual and reproductive health, family planning, maternal health, or reproductive health commodity security is required. Experience in public health systems within development or humanitarian contexts is advantageous. Strong communication skills, both written and oral, are essential for fostering partnerships and maintaining political relationships at high levels.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes an advanced university degree in relevant fields such as public health, medicine, health management, pharmacy, supply chain management, or social sciences. This educational foundation is critical for understanding the complexities of sexual and reproductive health and the associated systems and policies.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of five years of relevant experience, with increasing responsibilities in areas such as sexual and reproductive health, family planning, maternal health, and reproductive health commodity security. Experience in health sector-specific roles, particularly in public health systems in both development and humanitarian settings, is highly valued. Previous experience working in multicultural teams and leading national-level health programs will be beneficial.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, and proficiency in Tok Pisin is also required. These language skills are essential for effective communication and collaboration with various stakeholders in Papua New Guinea.
