Job Overview:
The Project Assistant Intern will support the UNDP Jordan Country Program, specifically focusing on enhancing climate resilience and improving water efficiency in the Dead Sea Basin. The intern will assist in the selection of eligible families for rainwater harvesting units, conduct site verifications, manage data, engage with the community, and support reporting efforts. This role is crucial in addressing water security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security challenges in Jordan, a country facing significant water scarcity and climate change impacts. The intern will work closely with the project team to implement strategies that integrate environmental concerns into national policies and promote sustainable development practices.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for several key tasks, including:
  • Beneficiaries Selection: Communicating with eligible families for rainwater harvesting units, assisting in data collection, processing, and management, and supporting the complaints mechanism and hotline.
  • Data Management: Analyzing data, preparing summaries, and collaborating with team members on community engagement activities.
  • Site Visits: Assisting in technical verifications of selected households and supporting administrative tasks related to project management.
  • Procurement Support: Coordinating with the UNDP procurement team, maintaining project records, and tracking financial expenditures.
  • Ad Hoc Activities: Supporting other relevant activities as needed to ensure the smooth operation of the project.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must meet specific qualifications to be considered for the internship. Applicants should be enrolled in a postgraduate degree program or in the final year of a first university degree program. Alternatively, candidates who have recently graduated with a relevant university degree or are enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship program are also eligible. Strong communication skills in both Arabic and English are required, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office tools and online navigation.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes enrollment in a relevant degree program such as Public Administration or other related fields. Candidates must either be pursuing a postgraduate degree, be in their final year of undergraduate studies, or have recently graduated. This ensures that the intern has the necessary academic foundation to contribute effectively to the project.

Experience:
While specific prior experience is not mandatory for this internship, candidates should demonstrate a strong interest in development work, particularly in areas related to climate resilience, water management, and community engagement. Any relevant volunteer work, internships, or academic projects that showcase the candidate's skills and commitment to these areas will be advantageous.

Languages:
Excellent communication skills in both Arabic and English are mandatory for this position. Proficiency in another UN language is considered an advantage, enhancing the intern's ability to engage with diverse stakeholders and contribute to the project's objectives.

Additional Notes:
The internship is available on a full-time basis, requiring a commitment of five days a week from Sunday to Thursday. The duration of the internship can vary from a minimum of six weeks to a maximum of six months, with the possibility of extending up to twelve months for candidates participating in national service obligations or postgraduate professional traineeship programs. Interns will receive a stipend to help cover basic daily expenses, and they will accrue combined sick and annual leave at a rate of 1.5 days per month. The internship is designed to provide valuable hands-on experience in a dynamic and impactful project, contributing to sustainable development efforts in Jordan.
