Job Overview:
The position of Technical Support Consultant for the Parent Portal is crucial for ensuring the effective delivery of services through the Parent Portal application, which is part of the educational system portfolio. The consultant will provide technical support, ensuring a smooth transition of the Parent Portal infrastructure and delivering all relevant technical documentation. The role involves troubleshooting and resolving issues related to Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) and containerized workloads, as well as monitoring and maintaining Kubernetes clusters for optimal performance, reliability, and scalability. The consultant will also be responsible for preparing technical reports on application performance and operational issues, ensuring system availability, and supporting CI/CD pipelines. This position is expected to last for 12 months, with the possibility of extension based on performance and funding availability.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Technical Support Consultant include:
  • Supporting the technical handover of the Parent Portal infrastructure, ensuring a smooth transition of ownership for infrastructure resources.
  • Providing Level 2/Level 3 technical support for the Parent Portal and integrating services.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving issues related to Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) and containerized workloads.
  • Monitoring, managing, and maintaining Kubernetes clusters for performance, reliability, and scalability.
  • Performing deployment, configuration, and upgrades of Kubernetes clusters and Azure resources.
  • Conducting maintenance and monitoring tasks to ensure system availability and efficient performance, while preparing and presenting technical reports on application performance and operational issues.
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date documentation, including inventories, configurations, procedures, troubleshooting steps, solutions, and best practices.
  • Supporting CI/CD pipelines and other related tasks as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for this position include:
  • A university degree from an accredited educational institution in computer sciences, information technology, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in Azure cloud infrastructure, with strong knowledge of Kubernetes.
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure and Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
  • Experience with DevOps practices and familiarity with networking concepts and observability tools.
  • Excellent command of spoken and written English, with fluency in both Arabic and English required for this role.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a university degree from an accredited educational institution in fields such as computer science, information technology, electrical/computer engineering, or other related disciplines. This educational background is essential for understanding the technical aspects of the role and effectively managing the Parent Portal application.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in Azure cloud infrastructure, with a strong emphasis on Kubernetes. Candidates should have hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure and Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), as well as familiarity with DevOps practices and networking concepts. This level of experience is necessary to ensure that the consultant can effectively troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, manage Kubernetes clusters, and support the overall functionality of the Parent Portal application.

Languages:
Fluency in both Arabic and English is mandatory for this position, as these are the working languages of UNRWA. The ability to communicate effectively in both languages is essential for providing technical support and collaborating with team members and stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
The consultancy is based in UNRWA HQA Amman, Jordan. The selected candidate will receive a monthly remuneration equivalent to A15 Step 1, amounting to JOD 1,080.38 for each fully completed month. The contract duration is up to 12 months, with the possibility of extension subject to the availability of funds, continuing need, and satisfactory performance. The role operates under the supervision of the Chief Digital Risk Officer within the Digital Impact, Technology and Innovation Department (DITID). It is important to note that the United Nations does not charge any fees at any stage of the recruitment process, ensuring a fair and transparent hiring process.
