Job Overview:
The AutoCAD Drafter position involves preparing all necessary drafting works using AutoCAD software to facilitate the production of site surveys, schematic designs, concept designs, master plans, and detailed architectural, structural, electrical, and mechanical drawings. The role is crucial for ensuring the continuous flow of operations within the agency. The drafter will also be responsible for creating three-dimensional presentation drawings, diagrams, charts, and simple graphic works to assist team members with their presentation needs. Additionally, the position requires producing hard copies of designs and plans for supervisor review and approval, as well as assisting Division Heads in daily operations to maintain activity flow. The drafter will also be tasked with producing drawings for the remodeling of existing buildings and creating designs and detailed drawings for housing and shelters. This role is essential for supporting the agency's mission and requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and collaboration with various teams.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the AutoCAD Drafter include:
  • Preparing all drafting works necessary for the production of site surveys, schematic designs, concept designs, master plans, and detailed architectural, structural, electrical, and mechanical drawings using AutoCAD software.
  • Creating three-dimensional presentation drawings, diagrams, charts, and simple graphic works for team presentations.
  • Producing hard copies of designs and plans for supervisor checks and approvals.
  • Assisting Division Heads in daily operations to ensure a continuous flow of activities.
  • Producing drawings for the remodeling of existing buildings.
  • Creating designs and detailed drawings for housing and shelters.
  • Performing other duties as assigned by the supervisor to support the agency's objectives.
  • Collaborating with team members and other departments to ensure that all drafting works meet the required standards and specifications.

Required Qualifications:
The position requires a post-secondary diploma from an accredited institution in civil, architectural, or structural engineering. Candidates must have a strong proficiency in AutoCAD drawing, drafting, and graphic works, as well as experience with three-dimensional applications. Additionally, familiarity with engineering-related office equipment such as plotters and drawing photocopying machines is essential. Candidates should also demonstrate a commitment to accuracy and attention to detail in their work, as well as the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Strong communication skills are necessary to effectively convey ideas and designs to team members and supervisors.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a post-secondary diploma from an accredited institution in civil, architectural, or structural engineering. This educational background is crucial for understanding the technical aspects of drafting and design work required in this position. The diploma should be from a recognized institution that provides a solid foundation in engineering principles and practices, particularly in relation to architectural and structural design.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of five years of experience in AutoCAD drawing, drafting, and graphic works, as well as experience with three-dimensional applications. Experience with engineering-related office equipment, such as plotters and drawing photocopying machines, is also required. Additionally, candidates should indicate their current involvement in any outside activities, which may include employment, freelance consulting, teaching, or voluntary work, as this information is necessary for the application process.

Languages:
For this position, proficiency in English and Arabic is required. According to the UN Language Framework, candidates must demonstrate a minimum level II proficiency in reading, writing, listening, and speaking for both languages. While English and Arabic are mandatory, knowledge of French is considered an asset, as it is one of the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Candidates should be able to communicate effectively in both languages to collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
The AutoCAD Drafter position is a Fixed Term Appointment for one year, with the possibility of extension based on funding availability, satisfactory performance, and ongoing need. The position is classified at Grade 11, with a monthly basic salary of JD 710.1
  • Additional benefits include a monthly Provident Fund contribution (15.4% of the basic salary paid by the Agency), compulsory medical insurance, 30 days of annual leave, and a dependency allowance if applicable. Employees are entitled to two days of sick leave for each completed month of service, 14 weeks of maternity leave, and two weeks of paternity leave. This vacancy is open to internal candidates only, and applicants must reside in Amman and have authorization to work in the duty station at the time of application. The agency will not facilitate work permit issuance in Jordan, and without a valid work permit, the appointment may be rescinded. The incumbent may be required to travel within the agency's area of operations and may need to work outside normal duty hours on an on-call basis. Preference will be given to registered Palestine refugees and candidates who assist the agency in achieving gender parity.
