Job Overview: The coordinator" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Finance Coordinator position is a critical role within the Area Office Finance team at NRC. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading accounting, financial management, and donor budgeting for new proposals and realignments. This role involves managing all donor financial reporting and ensuring compliance with NRC policies and donor requirements. The Finance Coordinator will report directly to the Area Manager and will play a vital role in supporting project staff in financial matters, maintaining budget control, and monitoring cash flow for the Area Office. The position requires a proactive approach to financial systems and compliance, ensuring that all financial procedures are adhered to and that the financial health of the Area Office is maintained. The Finance Coordinator will also be involved in capacity building and training of staff in financial management and donor reporting, contributing to the overall effectiveness of NRC's operations in the region.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Finance Coordinator will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities that include:
Implementing NRC’s financial systems, routines, and procedures in the Area Office.
Ensuring adherence to NRC policies, handbooks, guidelines, and donor requirements.
Preparing and submitting financial reports and analyses.
Maintaining proper filing of all supporting documentation.
Supporting line managers in procedures and providing necessary training to the support team.
Assisting project staff in financial matters and ensuring budget control.
Monitoring cash flow for the Area Office and ensuring compliance with financial procedures.
Conducting spot checks across the Area Office to ensure adherence to NRC financial procedures.
Supporting the development of master budgets and donor budgets for new proposals. 1
Preparing all donor financial reports per donor requirements and responding to donor queries. 1
Leading on monthly financial closing and consolidating accounting books at the Area Office level. 1
Developing and implementing capacity-building plans for staff in Area Offices.
Required Qualifications: The ideal candidate for the Finance Coordinator position will possess a range of qualifications, including:
A strong understanding of financial management principles and practices, particularly in a humanitarian context.
Proven experience in finance roles, with at least three years of experience working at a similar level.
Familiarity with donor budgeting and reporting requirements.
Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret financial data effectively.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with fluency in English being essential.
Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage and develop staff effectively.
Knowledge of the context in Gaza and Palestine, including the challenges faced in humanitarian finance.
Educational Background: Candidates should have a relevant educational background, typically including a degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field. Professional certifications in finance or accounting (such as CPA, ACCA, or equivalent) are highly desirable and will be considered an asset for this role.
Experience: The Finance Coordinator position requires a minimum of three years of experience working in finance, particularly in a humanitarian or recovery context. Candidates should have documented results related to the responsibilities of the position and experience working in complex and volatile environments. Previous experience in financial management within NGOs or similar organizations is preferred.
Languages: Fluency in English, both written and verbal, is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of Arabic is an advantage and will be considered beneficial for effective communication within the local context.
Additional Notes: This position is full-time and based in Amman, Palestine. The role may involve some travel to other areas within the region as required.
