Job Overview: The Technical Support Consultant for the Parent Portal Application will play a crucial role in providing technical support for the Parent Portal application, which is part of the educational system portfolio aimed at facilitating efficient service delivery to beneficiaries. The consultant will be responsible for ensuring a smooth transition of ownership for the Parent Portal infrastructure, which includes preparing and delivering all relevant technical documentation. The role requires a strong understanding of Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) and containerized workloads, as well as the ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues. The consultant will also monitor and maintain Kubernetes clusters, ensuring performance, reliability, and scalability, while performing deployments, configurations, and upgrades of Azure resources. Additionally, the consultant will be tasked with maintaining comprehensive documentation and supporting CI/CD pipelines, contributing to the overall success of the Parent Portal application.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Technical Support Consultant include, but are not limited to:
Supporting the technical handover of the Parent Portal infrastructure by ensuring a smooth transition of ownership for infrastructure resources, including the preparation and delivery of all relevant technical documentation.
Providing Level 2/Level 3 technical support related to the Parent Portal and integrating services.
Troubleshooting and resolving issues related to Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) and containerized workloads.
Monitoring, managing, and maintaining Kubernetes clusters for performance, reliability, and scalability.
Performing deployment, configuration, and upgrades of Kubernetes clusters and Azure resources.
Providing maintenance and monitoring works to ensure system availability, efficient performance, and resource optimization, while preparing and presenting technical reports on application performance, operational issues, and risk mitigation actions.
Maintaining accurate, comprehensive, and up-to-date documentation, including inventories, configurations, procedures, troubleshooting steps, solutions, and best practices.
Supporting CI/CD pipelines and other related tasks that may be assigned.
Required Qualifications: The required qualifications for the Technical Support Consultant position include:
A university degree from an accredited educational institution in computer sciences, information technology, or a related discipline.
A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in Azure cloud infrastructure, with strong knowledge of Kubernetes.
Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure and Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
Experience with DevOps practices and familiarity with networking concepts and observability tools.
Excellent command of spoken and written English, as well as fluency in Arabic, which is essential for this role.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a university degree from an accredited educational institution in fields such as computer science, information technology, electrical/computer engineering, or other related disciplines. This educational background is crucial for understanding the technical aspects of the Parent Portal application and the associated infrastructure.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in Azure cloud infrastructure, with a strong emphasis on Kubernetes. Candidates should have hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure and Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), as well as familiarity with DevOps practices. The nature of the required experience includes troubleshooting, monitoring, and maintaining cloud infrastructure, which is essential for the successful execution of the role.
Languages: Fluency in both Arabic and English is mandatory for this position, as these are the working languages of UNRWA. Candidates must demonstrate excellent command of spoken and written English, alongside proficiency in Arabic, to effectively communicate and collaborate within the organization.
Additional Notes: The consultancy is based in UNRWA HQA Amman, Jordan, and the selected candidate will receive a monthly remuneration equivalent to A15 Step 1, amounting to JOD 1,080.38 for every fully completed month. The duration of the contract is up to 12 months, with the possibility of extension subject to the availability of funds, continuing need, and satisfactory performance. The role operates under the overall supervision of the Chief Digital Risk Officer within the Digital Impact, Technology and Innovation Department (DITID). It is important to note that the United Nations does not charge a fee at any stage of the recruitment process, ensuring a fair and transparent hiring process.
