Job Overview:
The National Township Facilitator position is designed to support the UNDP's initiatives in Dala and Thanlyin Townships in Myanmar. The facilitator will play a crucial role in coordinating local development efforts, engaging with community stakeholders, and ensuring that the objectives of the UNDP projects are met effectively. The facilitator will be responsible for facilitating communication between the UNDP and local communities, gathering feedback, and reporting on progress. This role requires a deep understanding of local dynamics and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders, including government officials, community leaders, and civil society organizations. The facilitator will also be expected to contribute to the planning and implementation of development activities, ensuring alignment with UNDP's strategic goals and local needs.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration between UNDP and local communities in Dala and Thanlyin Townships.
  • Engage with community stakeholders to gather input and feedback on development initiatives.
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of local development projects, ensuring they align with UNDP's objectives.
  • Monitor and report on the progress of development activities, providing regular updates to UNDP management.
  • Organize and facilitate community meetings, workshops, and training sessions to promote awareness and participation in development initiatives.
  • Identify and address challenges faced by communities in relation to UNDP projects, proposing solutions and adjustments as necessary.
  • Collaborate with local government officials and other partners to enhance the effectiveness of development efforts.
  • Document best practices and lessons learned from community engagement and development activities.

Required Qualifications:
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proven experience in community facilitation, project management, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of local development issues and dynamics in Dala and Thanlyin Townships.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating initiative and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in using digital tools and platforms for communication and reporting.

Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in social sciences, development studies, or a related field is required. A master's degree would be an advantage, particularly in areas related to community development or public administration.

Experience:
A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in community engagement, project facilitation, or development work is required. Experience working with international organizations or NGOs is preferred, particularly in the context of Myanmar.

Languages:
Fluency in Burmese is mandatory. Proficiency in English is highly desirable, as it will facilitate communication with UNDP and international stakeholders. Knowledge of additional local languages would be an asset.

Additional Notes:
The contract duration for this position is 10 months, and it is expected to be a full-time role. The position is open to both national and international applicants. Compensation and benefits will be commensurate with experience and in line with UNDP's policies.
