Job Overview:
The Project Coordinator will be responsible for providing technical expertise for the 'Boosting Implementation of the Yaoundé Code of Conduct Project' (BAY Project). This role involves overseeing the implementation and coordination of the project, which aims to enhance maritime security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security in the region. The incumbent will work closely with the Head of the Maritime Security Section and the BAY Project Advisor to develop strategic communication plans, assess training needs, and ensure effective project management. The position requires a proactive approach to managing project activities, facilitating stakeholder engagement, and ensuring the timely delivery of project outputs. The Project Coordinator will also be involved in capacity-building activities and will represent the project at various national and international forums.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Project Coordinator include:
  • Implementing and coordinating the BAY Project, ensuring alignment with the Yaoundé Code of Conduct.
  • Providing expert advice on developing regional strategic communication plans.
  • Reviewing and contributing to project documentation and reports.
  • Preparing comprehensive assessment and training plans for regional zones.
  • Developing guidance documents for beneficiaries on national and regional assessments.
  • Supervising the preparation of quarterly reports and managing the mentorship program.
  • Coordinating the work of consultants and ensuring timely delivery of outputs.
  • Supporting project outcomes through participation in capacity-building activities.
  • Overseeing the development of project management reports for stakeholders. 1
  • Facilitating policy dialogues and chairing technical working group discussions. 1
  • Organizing training workshops and seminars, and representing the project at international events.

Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for the Project Coordinator position include:
  • A first university degree (bachelor or equivalent) with at least 7 years of relevant experience, or a master's degree with at least 5 years of experience in fields such as International Relations, Maritime Security, or Public Administration.
  • Proven experience in delivering project services, particularly in international development projects.
  • Strong background in organizing maritime conferences and capacity-building workshops.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is essential.
  • Experience in website development is desirable.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a first university degree (bachelor or equivalent) with 7 years of experience or a master's degree with 5 years of experience in relevant fields such as International Relations, Maritime Security, Public Administration, or Social Sciences. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of maritime security and international development.

Experience:
The position requires 7 years of progressively responsible experience with a bachelor's degree or 5 years with a master's degree in delivering project services. Candidates should have experience in designing and implementing international development projects, assessing technical assistance needs, and delivering maritime safety training. Experience in organizing global information exchange forums and strategic communication capacity building is an advantage.

Languages:
Complete proficiency in English, both written and oral, is mandatory for this position. Additionally, a working knowledge of French or Portuguese would be advantageous, as it would facilitate communication with a broader range of stakeholders in the region.
