Job Overview:
The position of Technicien.ne des Bâtiments infrastructure/Genie Civil is crucial for the successful implementation of infrastructure projects aimed at supporting refugees and host communities in Chad, particularly in the Ouaddaï province. The role involves providing technical support for the design, management, and oversight of rural infrastructure projects, including the construction of buildings, health centers, and schools. The technician will work closely with the engineering team and other stakeholders to ensure that all projects meet the required specifications, safety standards, and timelines. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and collaboration with various teams to achieve the objectives of the Quick Impact component of the RESITCHAD project. The technician will also be responsible for monitoring project progress, ensuring compliance with national regulations, and facilitating communication between partners and beneficiaries. This role is essential in enhancing access to basic services and economic opportunities for displaced populations and their host communities, thereby contributing to regional stability and development.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The primary responsibilities of the Technicien.ne des Bâtiments infrastructure include:
  • Providing technical support for the design and management of rural infrastructure projects, ensuring adherence to design specifications, safety standards, and project timelines.
  • Supervising the internal consulting team and providing constructive feedback on technical drawings and project plans.
  • Assisting the ResitCHAD team and engineering team in implementing program activities, particularly in Farchana, while being flexible to support other locations as needed.
  • Reviewing contractor payment requests and comparing them with actual progress reports to ensure accuracy.
  • Preparing internal progress reports for the WFP project and submitting them to the lead engineer.
  • Ensuring that all work complies with national regulations and aligns with WFP standards and procedures.
  • Organizing field visits with partners, donors, and government representatives to showcase project progress.
  • Participating in planning and management meetings with beneficiary associations and providing guidance as necessary.
  • Assisting in the preparation and distribution of various documents, including meeting minutes and informational letters. 1
  • Reviewing contractor reports (daily, weekly, and monthly) and maintaining project documentation and photographs. 1
  • Executing any other tasks assigned by supervisors as needed.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a diploma in civil engineering, rural engineering, public works, architecture, or a related field. Additionally, candidates should have a strong understanding of construction techniques, contract management, and project oversight. Proficiency in technical design and interpretation of construction plans is essential, along with a high level of computer literacy, including knowledge of AutoCAD 2D, Microsoft Office, and Microsoft Project.
