Job Posting Organization:
The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) is the lead UN agency focused on sexual and reproductive health and rights, gender equality, and population issues. Established in 1969, UNFPA operates in over 150 countries and territories, working to ensure that every pregnancy is wanted, every childbirth is safe, and every young person's potential is fulfilled. The organization is committed to achieving three transformative results by 2030: ending preventable maternal deaths, ending unmet need for family planning, and ending gender-based violence and harmful practices. UNFPA's strategic plan for 2022-2025 emphasizes the importance of addressing the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on women's and girls' access to health services and reproductive rights, while also promoting recovery and resilience in communities affected by crises.

Job Overview:
The International Humanitarian Nexus Coordinator will play a crucial role in the planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of UNFPA's humanitarian response in the Philippines, particularly in Region V (Bicol). This position requires the Coordinator to maintain collaborative relationships with national and local government entities, non-government organizations, civil society, and other UN agencies. The Coordinator will lead the UNFPA Humanitarian Response team, providing technical direction and guidance to implementing partners. The role involves addressing urgent humanitarian needs, particularly in the aftermath of natural disasters and conflicts, and ensuring that vulnerable populations, including pregnant women and marginalized groups, receive the necessary support and services. The Coordinator will also be responsible for integrating emergency preparedness and resilience-building into UNFPA's broader programming efforts in the Philippines, ensuring that the organization effectively responds to the complex humanitarian landscape.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The International Humanitarian Nexus Coordinator will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including: providing programmatic support and quality assurance for ongoing humanitarian responses; representing UNFPA in inter-agency meetings and consultations; supporting the coordination of SRH and GBV clusters; leading project formulation, implementation, and evaluation; ensuring adherence to international technical standards; conducting regular monitoring and assessments; preparing external situational reports; leading resource mobilization efforts; documenting lessons learned; and undertaking field travel to crisis-affected areas as needed. The Coordinator will also work closely with government counterparts and civil society partners to strengthen UNFPA's role in SRH and GBV programming in emergencies.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in medicine, public health, international development, social sciences, gender/GBV, or related fields. A minimum of 5 years of international professional experience in sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) or gender-based violence (GBV) is required, with a strong knowledge of one area and familiarity with the other. Candidates should demonstrate knowledge of gender issues in development, particularly regarding SRHR and GBV, and have practical experience in programming in humanitarian and post-conflict settings. Strong leadership, facilitation, and team-working skills are essential, along with the ability to establish harmonious working relationships in a multicultural environment.

Educational Background:
An advanced university degree in relevant fields such as medicine, public health, international development, social sciences, or gender/GBV is required for this position. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of humanitarian responses and the specific needs of vulnerable populations in crisis situations.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in international SRHR or GBV, with a preference for those who have demonstrated strong knowledge in one area and familiarity with the other. Experience in developing and delivering training components related to GBV/SRHR for various stakeholders, including government and NGO participants, is highly valued. Additionally, experience working in the Philippines or the Asia-Pacific region is considered an advantage.

Languages:
Fluency in written and oral English is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in other languages may be considered an asset, particularly if they are relevant to the local context or the populations served by UNFPA's humanitarian initiatives.

Additional Notes:
This position offers an attractive remuneration package, including a competitive net salary, health insurance, and other applicable benefits. UNFPA promotes a work environment that reflects values of gender equality, diversity, integrity, and a healthy work-life balance. The organization encourages applications from women, individuals from the LGBTQIA+ community, minority ethnic groups, indigenous populations, persons with disabilities, and other underrepresented groups. The selection process may involve background checks, medical clearance, and other administrative requirements.
