The job posting organization is the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA). Established in April 2014, MINUSCA was authorized by the UN security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security Council to address the security, humanitarian, human rights, and political crises in the Central African Republic (CAR). The mission's primary objective is to protect civilians and support the transition process in the country. MINUSCA operates with a significant presence, including 11,650 military personnel and 2,080 police personnel, and is tasked with creating the political, security, and institutional conditions necessary to reduce the threat posed by armed groups. The mission also integrates the UN Integrated Peacebuilding Office in CAR (BINUCA) and has taken over military and police authority from the African Union-led peacekeeping operation (MISCA).

Job Overview:
The UNV Medical Nurse will work under the overall direction of the MINUSCA Medical Officer/Chief Medical Officer. This position involves providing comprehensive medical care to all Mission personnel, including both primary and secondary health care. The Medical Nurse will be responsible for attending to the MINUSCA clinic full-time, assisting medical doctors in treating minor injuries, administering vaccinations, and responding to emergency calls. The role requires conducting clinical assessments, performing diagnostic tests, and ensuring the preparedness of staff traveling on missions. The Medical Nurse will also engage in health education and promotion, maintain patient confidentiality, and document care services. The position emphasizes the importance of providing high-quality medical support and maintaining effective communication with patients and medical staff.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Medical Nurse will have a wide range of duties and responsibilities, including: attending to the MINUSCA clinic full-time; assisting medical doctors in providing primary and secondary health care; administering vaccinations; responding to emergency calls; conducting medical assessments and diagnostic tests; facilitating referrals and medical evacuations; providing health education and health promotion programs; maintaining patient records and confidentiality; performing clinical procedures such as injections and dressings; managing the pharmacy and medical supplies; ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations; participating in work environment assessments; and engaging in capacity development for national staff through training and mentoring. The Medical Nurse will also be expected to participate in other health-related activities as assigned by the Medical Officer/Chief Medical Officer.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a valid nursing license and have a strong understanding of medical practices and procedures. They should demonstrate the ability to work independently and as part of a team, exhibit good judgment, and maintain professionalism in all interactions. The role requires a commitment to the values of the United Nations, including integrity, communication, and respect for diversity. The Medical Nurse should also have experience in emergency response and be able to handle stressful situations effectively.

Educational Background:
A diploma or degree in nursing from an accredited institution is required. Additional certifications in emergency care, first aid, or public health are advantageous. Continuous professional development and training in relevant medical fields are also beneficial for this position.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of two years of professional nursing experience, preferably in a clinical or emergency setting. Experience working in challenging environments, such as conflict zones or humanitarian missions, is highly desirable. Familiarity with UN operations and protocols is a plus.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, while knowledge of French is highly desirable. Proficiency in additional languages spoken in the Central African Republic may also be beneficial.

Additional Notes:
This position is based in a non-family duty station with challenging living conditions and security risks. The role is full-time, and the successful candidate will be expected to adapt to the local environment, which includes limited medical infrastructure and basic services. The UN provides basic medical care through a dispensary and has established a hospital operational since August 201
