Job Description
Job Posting Organization:
UNICEF, established as part of the United Nations system, is dedicated to promoting and protecting the rights of children and adolescents. The organization advocates for visibility and addressing complex rights violations affecting children in Colombia. The UNICEF Country Program for the 2021-2024 programming cycle is guided by the new United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF), which directs the collective support of the UN to achieve the 2030 Agenda. The program focuses on three cooperation priorities identified by the Government and the UN system: a) Supporting the implementation of the Government's 'Peace with Legality' policy, b) Migration as a development factor, and c) Technical assistance for accelerating catalytic SDGs.

Job Overview:
The UN Volunteer will support the communications area of UNICEF Colombia, focusing on the production of communication content, particularly audiovisual materials (photography and video). This role aims to enhance the visibility and communication of UNICEF's work in response to humanitarian emergencies arising from armed conflict and climate variability in four defined intervention territories. The UN Volunteer will be responsible for planning, producing, and delivering audiovisual and photographic products, ensuring high technical and narrative standards, alignment with UNICEF's institutional guidelines, humanitarian principles, ethical considerations, and donor visibility requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The scope of the assignment includes: • Planning and executing UNICEF's communication in prioritized territories, including photography and video documentation of humanitarian actions, services provided, intervention contexts, and relevant testimonies, in coordination with UNICEF field teams. • Producing various communication products with an emphasis on audiovisual content, such as short videos, audiovisual capsules, testimonials, photo banks, web life stories, and other agreed formats for external communication, accountability, and institutional positioning. • Ensuring that audiovisual content adequately reflects the impact of UNICEF's work in emergency situations, highlighting child protection actions, access to essential services, and support for communities affected by armed violence and climate crises. • Applying cross-cutting approaches in content production, including children's rights, gender perspective, diversity, protection, informed consent, and 'Do No Harm' principles, especially in sensitive contexts. • Ensuring compliance with visibility and donor recognition guidelines in audiovisual products, according to funding agreements and UNICEF branding guidelines. • Organizing, labeling, and delivering final files and raw material in an orderly manner, ensuring proper systematization and availability for future communication and reporting uses, including registration in UNICEF's global archiving systems. • Supporting the generation of audiovisual and narrative inputs for donor reports, including selection of photographs, video clips, web stories, and brief descriptions evidencing results and reach of interventions. • Continuously coordinating with UNICEF's communications team to validate approaches, key messages, work progress, and final deliverables.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess strong skills in audiovisual production, including photography and video editing. They should demonstrate creativity, adaptability, and flexibility in their work. Additionally, candidates should have excellent planning and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential for effective collaboration with UNICEF teams and stakeholders.

Educational Background:
A degree in communications, media studies, or a related field is required. Additional training or certifications in audiovisual production, photography, or video editing will be considered an asset. Candidates should have a solid understanding of communication strategies and principles, particularly in humanitarian contexts.

Experience:
Candidates should have prior experience in communications, particularly in producing audiovisual content. Experience working in humanitarian settings or with international organizations is highly desirable. Familiarity with UNICEF's mission and values, as well as knowledge of the socio-political context in Colombia, will be beneficial.

Languages:
Fluency in Spanish is mandatory, as all communication will be conducted in this language. Proficiency in English is a plus and will enhance the candidate's ability to engage with international stakeholders and resources.

Additional Notes:
The contract duration is as indicated above, with the possibility of extensions subject to funding availability, operational needs, and satisfactory performance. However, renewal of the assignment is not guaranteed. A monthly living allowance of $6,082,394 COP is provided to cover housing, services, and ordinary living expenses. Benefits include life, health, and permanent disability insurance, as well as final repatriation (if applicable). This assignment requires full availability and exclusivity with the United Nations system. As this is a national UN Volunteer assignment, the volunteer will be responsible for securing their own housing and other essentials for living.
