Job Overview:
The Area Manager (AM) will be responsible for coordinating, managing, developing, and representing DRC's programming in Gaza, Palestine. This role involves overseeing program implementation in alignment with DRC strategies and ensuring operations comply with the organization's regulations and guidelines. The AM will maintain productive relationships with beneficiaries, community leaders, governmental authorities, donors, and other NGOs and UN agencies. As the primary representative of DRC in Gaza, the AM will manage all area staff and ensure a results-oriented team environment while promoting a safe and secure atmosphere for staff and beneficiaries through adherence to DRC's security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security framework.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Area Manager will engage in representation and coordination by participating in senior management team meetings and representing DRC in various forums. The AM will manage area support and program staff, ensuring effective inter-department coordination and fostering a positive team spirit. Responsibilities include overseeing project cycle management, adapting national strategies to local contexts, and providing guidance for program development and fundraising efforts. The AM will ensure safety and security for staff and beneficiaries, manage security incidents, and oversee monitoring and evaluation practices. Additionally, the AM will lead logistical, HR, finance, and administrative activities, ensuring compliance with internal procedures and donor regulations, and will be responsible for reporting and documentation of DRC's impact.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a minimum of five years of experience managing humanitarian and development programs with NGOs, including at least two years in project and operations management in complex settings. Experience in fragile and insecure environments is essential. The ideal candidate should demonstrate a proactive attitude, the ability to work independently and collaboratively, and a comprehensive understanding of the broader context of humanitarian work.

Educational Background:
A postgraduate degree in a relevant subject area is required for this position, ensuring that the candidate has the necessary academic foundation to manage complex humanitarian programs effectively.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of five years of relevant experience in managing humanitarian and development programs, with at least two years focused on project and operations management. Experience in fragile contexts and insecure environments is crucial, as is the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Languages:
Excellent communication skills in English are mandatory for this role, while proficiency in Arabic is considered an added advantage, enhancing the candidate's ability to engage with local communities and stakeholders effectively.

The contract for this position is set until September 30, 2025, with the possibility of extension based on performance and funding availability. The position is classified within the Management band (E management), and the expected start date is April
