Job Overview: The security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security Guard position is crucial for maintaining a safe and secure environment for UNDP personnel and visitors. The role involves providing security coverage at UNDP premises, ensuring that unauthorized individuals do not gain access, and safeguarding UNDP property. The Security Guard will be responsible for monitoring access points, conducting regular patrols, and maintaining security equipment. Additionally, the guard will assist in emergency response situations, ensuring that safety protocols are followed and that personnel are evacuated safely if necessary. The position requires a proactive approach to security, with an emphasis on discretion, integrity, and a client-oriented attitude. The Security Guard will work under the guidance of the Head of Gaza Office and the Field Security Specialist, contributing to a professional work environment that prioritizes safety and security.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Premises Security: Provide security coverage at entry points, screen personnel and vehicles, conduct regular patrols, monitor CCTV and alarm systems, report suspicious events, and ensure all security arrangements are in place.
Access Control and Visitor Management: Monitor access to premises, verify identities, issue visitor ID cards, register mail, and ensure compliance with security rules.
Emergency Response and Safety Support: Respond to security incidents, assist with fire prevention and emergency procedures, maintain readiness of emergency equipment, and support contingency plans.
Reporting and Communication: Maintain daily logs, notify the Field Security Specialist of incidents, and ensure proper handover between shifts.
Transportation Services: Provide safe transportation for personnel and visitors, ensuring vehicle readiness and conducting minor maintenance as needed. The incumbent may also perform other duties as required for the efficient functioning of the office.
Required Qualifications: The position requires secondary education as a minimum educational qualification. Candidates should possess knowledge of Windows and MS Office applications, as well as the ability to manage security systems, including CCTV and access control. Proven experience as a Security Guard, particularly with international organizations or embassies, is highly desirable. Additional skills in technical protection equipment and telecommunications are advantageous. A Security Guard certification is considered an asset, along with previous experience in the UN system and knowledge of driving regulations.
Educational Background: Candidates must have completed secondary education. Additional certifications related to security or safety management may enhance a candidate's profile, although they are not strictly required for the position.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of relevant work experience in security roles, particularly in environments similar to that of UNDP. Experience working with international organizations or in high-security contexts is preferred. Familiarity with security protocols and emergency response procedures is essential.
Languages: Fluency in Arabic is mandatory, along with a working knowledge of English. Proficiency in Hebrew is considered an asset, enhancing communication capabilities within the region.
