Job Overview: The Logistic Assistant plays a crucial role in the day-to-day implementation of the logistics function within NRC. This position involves adhering to NRC policies and guidelines while assisting in the management of logistics operations, including asset management, fleet management, procurement, and warehousing. The Logistic Assistant is expected to maintain accurate records, prepare reports, and ensure compliance with donor requirements. The role requires effective communication and collaboration with various teams to facilitate smooth logistics operations, ultimately contributing to the organization's mission of providing humanitarian assistance in challenging environments. The Logistic Assistant will also be involved in promoting safe and inclusive programming standards across their area of work, ensuring that all activities align with NRC's commitment to safeguarding and respect for all individuals.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Logistic Assistant's duties encompass a wide range of responsibilities, including:
Adhering to NRC policies, handbooks, guidelines, and donor requirements.
Assisting in the implementation of the logistics function's portfolio according to the Plan of Action.
Providing logistic administration and basic support, including preparing status reports as required by management.
Ensuring proper filing of all support documents and maintaining logistic records, suppliers, and equipment.
Promoting and sharing ideas for improvement of the logistics function.
Maintaining the asset register for the NRC Palestine Gaza Area, coordinating with logistics and IT teams for asset management.
Managing fleet operations, including movement planning and communication with the Fleet Service Provider.
Conducting procurement processes in accordance with NRC logistics policies and donor guidelines, including sourcing bids and issuing purchase orders.
Ensuring proper warehousing practices, including maintaining cleanliness and orderliness, supervising packing and distribution of materials, and tracking transportation services. 1
Contributing to the implementation of Safe and Inclusive Programming Minimum Standards across all logistics activities.
Required Qualifications: Candidates for the Logistic Assistant position should possess the following qualifications:
Basic experience working as a function officer in a humanitarian or recovery context.
Previous experience in complex and volatile environments.
Good knowledge of logistics functions and needs within an INGO context.
Fluency in Arabic, both written and verbal, and good knowledge of English, both written and verbal.
Strong organizational skills and reliability, with the ability to communicate effectively and work well in a team.
Basic analytical and IT skills are desirable.
A valid driver's license is required.
Educational Background: The ideal candidate should hold a Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, or a relevant field. This educational background is essential for understanding the logistics processes and requirements necessary for effective performance in the role.
Experience: The position requires candidates to have basic experience in logistics or related functions, particularly in humanitarian or recovery contexts. Previous experience in complex and volatile environments is highly valued, as it equips candidates with the skills needed to navigate the challenges associated with logistics in crisis situations.
Languages: Fluency in Arabic is mandatory for this position, as it is essential for effective communication within the local context. Proficiency in English, both written and verbal, is also required to ensure compliance with NRC's international standards and facilitate communication with diverse stakeholders.
Additional Notes: The Logistic Assistant position is a full-time role with a contract duration of 6 months, working 38 hours per week from Sunday to Thursday. The salary and benefits are based on NRC's salary scale and terms and conditions specific to the Gaza duty station. The position is open to residents of the Gaza Strip only, and the start date is as soon as possible.
