Job Overview:
This internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position focuses on the project 'Transitional Aid as an Instrument for Crisis Management,' which addresses the challenges faced by vulnerable populations in fragile contexts exacerbated by violent conflicts, disasters, and climate change. The intern will provide substantive and organizational support to the advisory team, assisting with current and long-term tasks, preparing statements and comments for the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), and contributing to conceptual questions and comprehensive analyses. The role also involves the preparation and follow-up of team meetings, workshops, and other exchange formats, as well as knowledge management.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:
  • Providing content-related and organizational support to the advisory team in addressing both current and long-term tasks.
  • Assisting in the preparation of statements and comments for the BMZ.
  • Contributing to conceptual questions and comprehensive analyses related to transitional aid.
  • Preparing and following up on team meetings, workshops, and other exchange formats.
  • Engaging in knowledge management activities to ensure effective communication and dissemination of information.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates should have a strong interest in pursuing a career in international cooperation and must currently be enrolled in a Master's program in International Relations, Political Science, Social Sciences, or a related field. They should possess initial experience in collaboration with international organizations or institutions and have knowledge of the UN system. Familiarity with topics such as security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">food security, migration, peace, disaster risk management, resilience, social security, and reconstruction is essential. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate a quick understanding and high analytical skills, the ability to communicate complex content clearly, flexibility in meeting tight deadlines, and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.

Educational Background:
The ideal candidate should be currently enrolled in a Master's program related to International Relations, Political Science, Social Sciences, or a similar field. The internship is only available to those who are currently registered as students, are in a training program that requires an internship, or have graduated no more than six months prior to the start of the internship.

Experience:
Candidates should have initial experience working with international organizations or institutions, which may include internships, volunteer work, or relevant academic projects. Knowledge of the UN system and its operations is also beneficial for this position.

Languages:
Proficiency in both English and German is mandatory, with excellent written and spoken communication skills in both languages. Additional language skills may be considered an asset but are not required.
