Job Overview: The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position is part of the Sektorvorhaben Flucht, which advises the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) on development policy approaches in contexts of flight and displacement. The initiative aims to advance German development cooperation in the area of flight and make it internationally visible. Key topics include employment, social security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security, gender equality, mental health, and education. The project also collaborates with significant partners such as the United NationsHigh Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and supports the BMZ in monitoring the Special Initiative on Refugees and Host Countries (SI GA). The internship will provide opportunities to contribute to various aspects of this important work, including research, event organization, and public relations.
Duties and Responsibilities: As an intern, you will be responsible for supporting the team with technical contributions in the area of flight in development cooperation and related cross-cutting issues. Your tasks will include assisting with database-based monitoring of the Special Initiative on Refugees and Host Countries, conducting independent research assignments, drafting reports, organizing (online) events, and handling public relations tasks. You will also prepare for and follow up on team meetings and workshops, along with other relevant content-related, organizational, and administrative tasks.
Required Qualifications: Candidates should have an academic interest and prior knowledge in the field of flight, as well as an understanding of international cooperation and relevant actors in this area. A completed undergraduate degree in political or social sciences or a related field is required. Previous experience in development cooperation, ideally in non-European countries or with international organizations, is advantageous. Excellent English and German language skills, both written and spoken, are essential, and proficiency in Spanish or Arabic is a plus. Candidates should demonstrate quick comprehension, good analytical skills, and excellent expression. Reliability, teamwork, flexibility, commitment, and independence are also important traits. Proficiency in common office applications and knowledge of databases and relevant programs (especially PowerBI, PowerApps) is beneficial.
Educational Background: The position requires a completed undergraduate degree in political science, social sciences, or a related field. Candidates must be currently enrolled in a program that includes an internship as an integral part or have graduated no more than six months prior to the start of the internship.
Experience: The ideal candidate should have some prior experience in development cooperation, particularly in contexts outside of Europe or in collaboration with international organizations. This experience will enhance the candidate's understanding of the challenges and opportunities in the field of flight and displacement.
Languages: Fluency in both English and German is mandatory, with strong writing and editing skills. Knowledge of Spanish or Arabic is considered an advantage, as it may facilitate communication and understanding in diverse contexts.

The monthly stipend for interns is €2,205.04 (gross).
