Job Overview:
The Water Policy Research Intern will play a crucial role in supporting policy research activities within the water security sub-cluster of WRI Indonesia's Food-Land-Water (FLW) Program. This program aims to protect and restore ecosystems, particularly focusing on water resources management to enhance ecosystem resilience and improve human well-being through effective policy interventions. The intern will engage in desktop studies that involve data collection, analysis, and policy review, all under the mentorship of the Water Program Lead. This internship offers a unique opportunity to collaborate with various WRI Indonesia programs on cross-cutting issues, contributing to the development of scientific evidence for policy recommendations and the advancement of water-related projects. The intern will be based in Jakarta and will benefit from a flexible working arrangement, allowing for a blend of office and remote work.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern's responsibilities will include conducting comprehensive desktop research on water security issues, analyzing data related to water resources management, and reviewing existing policies and regulations. The intern will be expected to summarize findings and present them clearly to support policy recommendations. Additionally, the intern will assist in the development of knowledge products and contribute to the planning and execution of water-related projects. Collaboration with other team members and stakeholders will be essential, as the intern will participate in meetings and discussions to enhance the program's impact. The intern will also be responsible for managing multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining a strong attention to detail.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must be bachelor students or recent graduates in fields related to law, public administration, political science, sociology, or other relevant disciplines. A strong ability to read, comprehend, and summarize large volumes of regulations and academic references within a limited timeframe is essential. Candidates should possess a basic understanding of water security issues and environmental policies, along with a demonstrated interest in nature conservation and improving human well-being. Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently are crucial for success in this role.

Educational Background:
The position requires candidates to be enrolled in or have recently completed a degree in disciplines such as law, public administration, political science, sociology, or other relevant fields. This educational background will provide the necessary foundation for understanding the complexities of water resources management and policy analysis.

Experience:
While prior experience is not mandatory, any relevant internships or volunteer work in environmental policy, research, or related fields will be considered an asset. The intern should demonstrate a willingness to learn and adapt to new challenges in a dynamic research environment.

Languages:
Proficiency in both English and Bahasa Indonesia is mandatory, with strong verbal and written communication skills required. The ability to produce clear and concise written products is essential for this role. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered a plus but is not required.

Additional Notes:
This is a full-time, paid internship with a duration of three months, with the possibility of extension based on individual performance, project needs, and budget availability. Candidates must have authorization to work in Indonesia to be eligible for this position. The internship includes standard wages, travel insurance for any assigned travel duties, and access to WRI's global network. Final candidates may be required to complete a writing test and provide two writing samples as part of the selection process.
