Job Overview:
The Security Officer position at ECA's Security and Safety Services (SSS) involves performing essential security functions under the command of the Chief of SSS. The officer will be responsible for ensuring the safety of persons and property during working hours, including nights and weekends. This role requires monitoring access to the premises, conducting inspections, operating security equipment, and responding to emergencies. The Security Officer will also assist in supervising subordinate security staff, collecting and analyzing data, and preparing reports. The position demands a proactive approach to identifying security risks and implementing safety measures, contributing to a secure environment for all personnel and visitors.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide security services for the protection of persons and property during specified working hours, including night and weekends. This includes checking ID cards and car permits, ensuring unauthorized persons do not enter, and screening outgoing UN properties.
  • Conduct regular inspections of grounds and buildings to identify security risks and enforce parking regulations.
  • Operate security equipment such as CCTV systems, luggage inspection machines, and metal detectors.
  • Monitor electronic surveillance for suspicious activities and communicate findings to higher-level security officers.
  • Maintain fire and safety precautions, including routine patrols, inspections of firefighting equipment, and conducting evacuation drills.
  • Provide special security coverage for conferences and events, ensuring the safety of delegates and facilities.
  • Offer protection and escort services for dignitaries and sensitive materials.
  • Assist in supervising subordinate security officers, coordinating tasks, and maintaining records.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Passing the United Nations Security Officer Test (SOT) is a prerequisite for recruitment consideration. Candidates should demonstrate professionalism, teamwork, and client orientation. Basic computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, are desirable. Experience in security-related work, particularly in public or private sectors, is essential. Candidates with a first-level university degree or higher may have reduced experience requirements. Prior experience with the UN system or international NGOs is advantageous, as is experience in data analytics or related fields.

Educational Background:
