Job Overview: The Project Coordinator will play a crucial role in overseeing the ICAO Assistance Project focused on sustainable aviation fuels (SAF). This position requires close collaboration with various stakeholders, including consultants, state focal points, and national authorities, to ensure the successful implementation of feasibility studies aimed at developing SAF in selected states. The Project Coordinator will be responsible for providing technical inputs, monitoring project progress, and ensuring compliance with UN regulations and EU fiduciary standards. The role demands strong leadership skills, the ability to manage multiple tasks, and effective communication with diverse audiences. The Project Coordinator will also be expected to report regularly on project advancements and engage with local authorities and stakeholders to promote the project's objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Project Coordinator will have a wide range of responsibilities, including but not limited to: liaising with project consultants and state focal points to supervise the feasibility and business implementation studies; ensuring that project scope and size are adjusted based on the specific circumstances of each state; promoting engagement with local authorities and stakeholders; supporting the recruitment of consultants; participating in kick-off meetings and introductory sessions on SAF; conducting regular virtual meetings to monitor progress; supervising feasibility studies and consultants' tasks; providing technical guidance to consultants; reporting on project progress and assisting the ICAO project team; managing project documentation; developing communication materials; managing project risks and logistics; presenting findings during workshops; and performing other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a minimum of 7 years of experience in monitoring and evaluation of project activities, particularly in climate change projects. They should have proven experience in using a logical framework approach to monitoring and be adept at employing both quantitative and qualitative monitoring techniques. Strong interpersonal skills, excellent coordination abilities, and the capacity to work under pressure are essential. Candidates should also demonstrate proficiency in statistical analysis and the ability to synthesize information from diverse sources to meet project goals.
Educational Background: An advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in aviation, law, finance, economics, statistics, environment, or a related discipline is preferred. A first-level university degree in the aforementioned fields, combined with additional years of relevant experience, may be accepted in lieu of an advanced degree.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 7 years of professional experience, with at least 3 years spent working on projects in developing states. Candidates should have experience in monitoring and evaluation, particularly in the context of climate change initiatives, and should be familiar with statistical analysis and reporting.
Languages: Fluent reading, writing, and speaking abilities in English are essential for this position. A working knowledge of any other language of ICAO Member States is considered desirable and may enhance a candidate's suitability for the role.
Additional Notes: This consultancy position is for a medium-term duration of 11 months. The monthly salary for Band C ranges from CAD $7,562 to CAD $10,91
The role may involve international travel and requires a commitment to the objectives of the ICAO Assistance Project.
