Job Overview:
The intern will play a crucial role in supporting the Global Ambassadors Programme by working closely with the Programme Manager. The primary focus will be on managing communications, promotion, and visibility aspects of the Programme. This includes acting as a liaison with the ICAO Communications Unit to ensure timely amplification of the activities of Ambassadors across various ICAO platforms. The intern will assist in creating engaging social media content, visuals, and web updates to highlight outreach events and initiatives. Additionally, the intern will be responsible for capturing and curating success stories and event highlights for broader dissemination, monitoring communications coverage, and preparing reports on visibility impact. The role requires ensuring consistency in messaging and branding, aligning with ICAO’s strategic priorities, and contributing to the overall success of the Programme.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Act as a liaison with the ICAO Communications Unit to ensure timely amplification of Ambassadors’ activities across ICAO platforms.
  • Assist in the preparation of social media content, visuals, and web updates to highlight outreach events and initiatives.
  • Capture and curate success stories and event highlights for broader dissemination.
  • Monitor communications coverage and prepare reports on visibility impact.
  • Ensure consistency in messaging, branding, and alignment with ICAO’s strategic priorities.
  • Collaborate with team members to achieve goals and support group decisions.
  • Foster an inclusive and respectful work environment that values diverse perspectives.
  • Propose innovative ideas and embrace new approaches to enhance the Programme's visibility.

Required Qualifications:
Essential qualifications include being enrolled in or having recently graduated from a university programme in journalism, marketing, communications, public/business administration, political science, or a related field. Desirable qualifications include knowledge of social media and digital marketing tools, as well as layout and graphic design experience, which would be considered an asset.

This educational background is essential for understanding the dynamics of communication and marketing within an international organization.

Experience:
While specific experience is not mandated, familiarity with social media platforms and digital marketing tools is highly desirable. Any prior experience in communications, marketing, or public relations would be beneficial, particularly in a context related to international organizations or advocacy initiatives.

Languages:
Fluent reading, writing, and speaking abilities in English are essential for this position. Additionally, a working knowledge of any other language of the Organization, such as Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish, would be considered a valuable asset.

Additional Notes:
This internship is unpaid, and all costs related to travel, insurance, accommodation, and living expenses must be borne by the intern. The preferred duration of the internship is six months, with the intern expected to work full-time, five days a week from 9 AM to 5 PM. This is a hybrid position requiring at least three days a week in the Montreal office. Interns are not eligible for any other form of employment within ICAO during the internship and cannot apply for or be appointed to any post in the Secretariat or be contracted for any other remunerated employment with ICAO for six months following the end of their internship. A work permit may be required to work in Canada as an intern.
