Job Overview: The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position within the UNDP's Oversight & Business Process Improvement (OBPI) unit is designed to provide students with practical experience in internal control and compliance activities. The intern will work under the authority of Oversight and Compliance specialists and directly under the supervision of Analysts responsible for Audit, Capacity Building, and Contract Management. The role primarily involves supporting internal control activities and compliance, with the potential to expand into other tasks deemed useful. Interns will assist in quality assurance activities related to the Harmonized Approach to Cash Transfers (HACT), participate in internal verification exercises, compile data for audits, and contribute to the verification process concerning anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain insights into the workings of UNDP and its commitment to transparency and accountability in its operations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Support internal control activities by assisting Analysts in preparing quality assurance activities related to HACT, including macro-evaluations, micro-evaluations, audits, and spot checks.
Compile relevant data for both internal and external audits.
Contribute to the verification process of counterparts concerning anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing (AML/CFT).
Assist in the drafting of programmatic contracts and amendments under the supervision of the Analyst in charge of contract management.
Ensure completeness of programmatic contract request files.
Provide legal opinions on issues related to contract execution.
Prepare contract files for submission to the RRA/O for signature.
Follow up on contracts and agreements submitted for signature.
Maintain and update data in the management tool for contracts and partner tracking for the country office. 1
Engage in any other tasks deemed necessary by the supervisors to support the unit's objectives.
Required Qualifications: Candidates for the UNDP internship program must meet one of the following criteria at the time of application:
Be enrolled in a graduate program (master's degree or equivalent) in fields such as audit, management sciences, or related disciplines.
Be in the final year of an undergraduate program (minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent) in fields such as finance, accounting, audit, or related disciplines.
Have obtained a university degree (as defined above) and, if selected, must commence the internship within one year of graduation.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this internship includes enrollment in a graduate program or being in the final year of an undergraduate program in relevant fields such as audit, finance, accounting, or management sciences. Candidates who have recently graduated and are looking to gain practical experience in these areas are also eligible to apply, provided they can start the internship within a year of graduation.
Experience: Relevant work experience, volunteer work, or internships related to research activities in audit at the national or international level is required. Familiarity with accounting management and audit activities is essential. Previous knowledge or experience within the United Nations system is considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's profile for this internship.
Languages: Proficiency in both French and English is mandatory, with excellent writing and communication skills in both languages being essential for effective collaboration and reporting. Additional language skills may be considered an advantage but are not mandatory.
